I think the coverage on the 4A state volleyball finals were terrible. Why is there know pictures of that game. Someone must have been to tired. Can't understand why they can't get the same coverage as football. Proud of the New Castle Trojans VOLLEY BALL TEAM. GOOD JOB LADYS. The McIntosh's

The 4A match was on TV last night. I watched the entire match. And, the 1A,2A and 3A matches were availabe to watch on your computer. They were all live at http://wibc.com/ihsaa/

They will have the games again on there.

I do agree, though, this years coverage of high school volleyball was horrible. Maybe because it was in Muncie?

New Castle did play well and it was an awesome match! The best match of the day!

Surfed into the IndyStar to catch the local hype on the Colts-Pats game, but also to see about the state volleyball finals. The Burris team's historic run is amazing.
I had to go the Muncie paper to find some pictures. Go here, and click on the New Castle or Muncie Burris link: http://www.thestarpress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/sec...

Don’t you love class sports!!! Muncie Burris and Marquette have won 18 out of the 22 1A and 2A titles. Remember, we have class sports so the little schools have a chance…How’s that working out?

Elyea, Benninger, Metroka and Shaw all return. I think we'll be alright. Glad we got to go win state on your home turf. How'd that taste?

WOW!!! The NC girls are amazing and their run to the title was very special. I am very glad they beat Central in sectionals and clearly these girls will be back next year. I belive that Haley Benninger is going to be something very special and don't forget about Bell, she was clutch down the strecth. A repeat will be possible is the leadership role that Cox had can be replaced in some way, shape, or form. This truly was a Cinderella story and I would have to say that this is by far more impressive than what the boys basketball team did 2 years ago in 3A. Go Trojans.

Well, that's no surprise- think about the type of coach Steve Shondell is, and how his techniques have shaped the way that volleyball is played here in Indiana. Do you recall that Burris was winning State well before the class system? Until these 2A schools can obtain the type of stature that Steve Shondell has rightfully earned, then Burris will continue to win.
Go OWLS!

Burris is awesome. Heck, the IHSAA even listed them as 2A 2007 winners and printed it in the program before the matches were ever played.

Absolutely! You made my point for me. Burris is awesome, and has been LONG before class sports. But realistically, what real chance does a 2A team have of beating them? Not much.

Marquette is following suit with Troy Campbell (a standout coach himself). What real chance does a 1A team have of knocking them off? It certainly won't be next year as Marquette loses only one senior.

WHERE ARE THE PICTURES OF THE WINNERS? I'm sure the Star is disappointed that Cathedral DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO THE REGIONAL FINALS but they should have sucked it up and taken some pictures of the WINNERS! Instead there is one picture in the paper of a Brebeuf player who LOST THE SEMI-FINAL game. AND, why are most of the pictures on the web site of Brebeuf? This reminds me of the year Martinsville beat Cathedral for the state championship and all the pictures were of Cathedral. I am so sick of this BS. My family is already taking the New York Times for national news because the Star sucks eggs in that area. We're about ready to drop the Star subscription altogether. They are so blatantly partial to Private schools, especially the Catholic ones, it's criminal in journalistic terms.(Of course, this paper is a joke among journalists with any intelligence and integrity.

The reason why Burris and other private schools dominate the smaller divisions is that they have no boundaries from which to draw their students while public 2A and 1A schools are as small as the private schools but can only draw from a defined geographic area. If we HAVE to have class basketball, the classes should be determined by the population of the area from which the school draws its population. For example, if the student who lives the farthest from Heritage Christian lives in Greenfield and Greenfield is forty miles away, the IHSAA should determine the population in a 40 mile radius from Heritage Christian and use that number to determine the class in which HC should have to compete. That will assure more parity and will probably serve as a deterrent from recruiting for those private schools who do so.
