Your all absolutyely right, I just wacthed the progrtam today and was very excited to see the outcome as I knew the show was aired a long time ago, so I hit the net only to discover no progress has been made. Should have hired an australian or british company, their not lazy. What a shame.

To historian,
I to just watch the Monster Move episode and wondered what happened to The President only to find out it is rusting away. I think they should stop airing this episode as it gives the viewer the idea that it was reassembled and now is being used as a hotel.

I am glad there are a few who shared my thoughts on the complete lack of planning on this project. I to watched to the end of the program hoping to see the resurrection of the ship. I am very disappointed to see it butchered so badly. Its also sad that the majority of people who watch the documentary would not know how poorly the project had been done.

Heard about this awhile back, but just saw the documentary yesterday. What a waste. I remember the President fondly, listening to great music while cruising the lower Mississippi out of New Orleans. It's a shame the fate of such a beautiful boat came down to being torn to pieces by an incompetent lot and left as scrap to rust. She deserved better.
Yes, I cannot believe the show made this move seem like a success by leaving the impression they would be putting the ship back together within the next 6 months. Nothing but waste, with so many people struggling. I am taking the mega movers show off my list.

Haven't seen the doc but have great memories too of seeing bands on the President during the 1980s. I have been back in the UK for 30 years now but that boat will forever be associated with great times in New Orleans.

Just watched the rerun of this show Dec 11-2013. After learning this show was done four years ago I was anxious to see how the results of the rebuild went. I ran to my computer as soon as show was over only to be terribly disappointed to learn the rebuild never happened. What a shame. I guess Grampy's oil money wasn't there in the end. And what was spent went to a seemingly incompetent team. What a waste of time, money and TV programing.

Really shamefull
I just watched the show here in Portugal. The boat was just butchered.
I loved the fact that the obese man in charge was wearing a demolition t-shirt when he entered the ship to star wrecking it.
Same on you America for the way you treat your historic artifacts.

Also just watched the show here in Portugal and I am in shock at what was done to this antique beauty. Nevermind the 'monster move' title, they have essentially destroyed a piece of American history on TV.

There was no planning, outdated tools and utter lack of foreseeing. It was like watching hundreds of cows being freed on Amsterdam's field of tulips.

Now reading that the boat was never put back together again just adds to the feeling of total incomprehension and confusion. How these people where ever put in charge of a project of this importance is a mystery. This show was a real ode to the stereotyped redneck stupidity.

Just seen rerun monster moves. Sad to see it never got rebuildt. That's what happens when you employ a moron. Could tell by thinking health and safe is a joke. No safety equipment in sight, have they not heard of hard hats that should tell you every thing

I can't believe I just spent 1 hour watching these guys destroy this boat. This is a great piece of history that will never be the same again. I thought that there was going to be a good ending to this.... Oh well a hour of my life wasted...

Hopefully that mover is no longer in that business. Total lack of safety, planning, forethought, financial awareness and so on. He should not be allowed to go near anything mechanical. Hopefully his new career includes the phrase: do you want fries with that?

I spent many wonderful times on the SS President in the 50s and 60s when I was in high school and college in New Orleans. Great bands all the time and even spent a few evenings just taking the cruise for fun - it must have been cheap if I could afford it. Anyway, don't be too hard on the demolition crew. They are house movers and do a pretty good job of that but how they ever got awarded this job is beyond me. I went to Google Earth and have noticed that the remains have now been removed from their previous location at the southwest corner of Interstate 70 in St Elmo, Illinois. Someone said it has been removed to another location in St. Elmo but I can't locate it. Anybody have the new location as I am making a trip through that area in July 2015 and would like to stop by and take some photos.

That's a fake. It never costed millions to cut it up and no one ever was going to weld it back together. The whole point was a money spin and stupid TV make.
C'mon, do the rebuild now, what you? No funds? Sell your mighty brains, that must be really pricey☺
