Wow...this Beckie Bayler sounds like a pompous parent. My daughter is in 5th grade and she attended Delaware Trails for all 5 years. The 4 star designation would have been given to DT also, except for meeting some attendance goals. They have the same curriculum, same facilities and the principal at DT has always been an active part of my daughters education. Grow up Beckie...feel free to move again so your precious little kids don't have to be "forced" to go to Delaware Trails. Why don't you try moving a little further east. I'm sure you would love Wayne Township.

I am in 100% agreement with this person. My wife teaches at Delaware Trail. The only reason Delaware Trail is not a 4-star school is because some of the parents of the students that live in a certain area of Brownsburg that attend DT are not responsible enough to make their children attend school on a daily basis.
Beckie should also be made aware that this will be changing with the redistricting as Eagle will be getting many of the students that DT has had for years. She is a misinformed parent and might want to attend the forum on this and understand what is really going on before spouting off and making an asinine statement. Eagle will no longer be a 4-star school and DT will now be. And when redistricting happens again, another school will probably get the distinction.

The 4-Star "Award" does not represent every teacher in that school. All the schools in Brownsburg have good and bad teachers. My between my three children we have seen 3 of the Grade school and one of the Middle Schools. The fact that one school is considered a 4-Star School and another is not should not be relevant. If you can afford to move to the Windridge Addition just so your kids can go to Eagle maybe you need to just pay a little extra and send them to Park Tudor. You may just find out that as long as your child has a desire to learn they will.
Granted I get extremely frustrated with any and all of the schools and several of the teachers but they have a tough job and I don't envy them.

I have heard nothing but good things about the schools in Brownsburg, and Delaware Trail has always been at the top of the list. For an uninformed parent to point out one specific school is ridiculous. She owes that school and its' staff an apology. My child goes to Eagle, and I will have no problem if they are sent to Delaware Trail. If your child is in public schools, a parent should not have a right to say what school they want their children to go to. Deal with it. If you don't like it, send them to private school. To the teachers of Delaware Trail, ignore this parent and do what you do best-teach our children.

I agree she owes them an apology, and next time she feels like getting herself quoted in an article, perhaps she should get her facts straight. I hear Avon is looking for some snobs..maybe she should move there.

I know Beckie. She is a very sweet person and has great children and husband. They help out in the community programs. Knowing the Star she was misquoted. I have two children in DT and they love it. The teachers are superb. They would be 4 Star if it was not for attendance. I believe you have to be the top 1% in the State for attendance, or something like that. They barely missed it. Restructuring is good and it will help the students socially to meet new people. BSC is one of the best in the State, no matter which school.

My children attended Harris Elementary which became Delaware Trail kindergarten through sixth grade. It was a four-star school when they attended. Granted, the staff and student population has changed somewhat over the years; however, I'm very grateful to the principal and staff there for my children's elementary school education. Good luck to them when dealing with all the complainers.

If you know Beckie then do us all a favor and share these posts with her so she can see what an idiot she looks like. Hopefully she won't make the same mistake again, and those she offended will get their apology.

Let me get this straight -- your daughter has attended Delaware Trail for five years and you still can't get the name of the school right? And you feel justified in slamming someone who doesn't want her children to be uprooted from the best school in the district? I guess the worried mom can only hope your daughter is smarter than you, passes fifth grade, and moves on to middle school, so she doesn't have to deal with you.
And for the rest of you clamoring to crucify her just because she opposes the change, get off it. If your writing skills are any indication of the intelligence of parents at DT, then she SHOULD be worried. Each of you could use lessons in grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. So get off your high horses and read a book. It might do you some good.

I am glad that a parent attended the meeting to find out how her children are affected. If the parents believe the children are in a great school situation, no one would embrace the change. It sounds like everything is up in the air with redistricting. I have had my children at Cardinal and Eagle. There is no comparison currently with how much better, friendlier the staff at Eagle Elementary is. I can understand her frustration. I am a concerned parent also and from the comments listed on this forum, it concerns me more.

Let ME get this straight-do you even live in Brownsburg? How do you know Eagle is the best school? Have you been in all the schools or are you going on one person's opinion? Do you keep a little file of test scores and data from each school in your spare time? If so, I think you are the one who needs to get a life. Maybe you need to do your homework a little more before you make a comment like that.
P.S. Thanks for the English lesson. That was so necessary(consider that my lesson on sarcasm).

Wow...I inadvertently added an 'S' to Delaware Trail. That automatically discounts the rest of my opinion. Regardless, after reviewing some more specifics of the proposal, I must say I am delighted that the redistribution of the students would force the Windridge children to endure the travesty of having to attend Delaware Trail. Then the "Beckie Bayler types" of the town could see how totally absurd her comments were.

Here is a lesson for you: using the word 'And' twice at the beginning of a sentence is not particularly strong grammatically speaking. So, maybe you might need some help as well.

Wow! Is it really necessary to verbally attack one another? I know that "change" gets people worked up but look at the bigger picture. We are a part of a great school system. Not everything is "perfect" @ DT, but do you truly believe that they are at any school? If you will be going to a different school next year(or not), BE INVOLVED!!! Give constructive suggestions!!! Be a GOOD example to your child & to mine!!! My children ARE getting a good education @ DT and I hope they continue there, however, I would be willing to have them attend any one of the elementaries in Brownsburg!!!

BrownsburgDad, your attitude comes across as condescending and a know-it-all. Your ''precious little kids'' remark in regard to her children made YOU look like a kid. Did you cross your arms, tap your foot, and tilt your head back after you typed that remark? You became irate toward a person who expressed something negative about a school that you obviously like and what did you do? You turned right back around and expressed negativity about another school.

You stated she was a pompous person. I have three words for you.

Pot, Kettle, Black.

As a DT mom I 'm embarrassed that the mother in the article was vilified the way she was here, before the "examples" poster stepped in and redirected the nastiness toward themselves. Calling Beckie Bayler an "idiot" and "snob" is simply uncalled for. Many people do factor into their home-buying decision the performance of the school their children will attend; I know I did in choosing Brownsburg. If she believes Eagle is better than any other school based on her experience, fine! It's nothing personal! In fact, the data published by the Star supports her opinion, based on many factors. This entire forum does not need to gang up and spew put-downs. It won't help us adjust next year.
(By the way, my reaction to the first posts might have been the same as the "examples" person's. There's no need to attack him/her. He or she obviously felt that the mom needed some defending.)

I've been trying to find the proposal, but can't seem to find it online anywhere. What specifics did you find? Do you have a link?
