Hollywood sees slow path to naming road after Barack Obama

The inauguration is still weeks away, but some in Hollywood are ready to name a street after president-elect Barack Obama .

Look at the stats for the area (epecially Blacks exactly as the vote went !!!)plus they claim the Liberty City Five, riots of 1980, drug wars of 1998 and on and on.

6 Hollywood Police Officers have been killed in the line of duty and only 1 has a street named after him!! And THAT street starts and ends at the Police Dept.! Why don't we name a couple of streets (REAL streets) in their honor before we start naming them after someone who hasn't even proven that he will be a good leader yet!! Hell, even commissioner (who are still alive) name parks after themselves! Let's honor the local before we honor the untested!

For those who don't know the street I mentioned it is "Henry T. Minard Blvd". Henry was shot and killed on Nov 18th, 1972 in the Hollywood Mall. That street is actually the parking lot road that enters the PD on Park Road and exits on Hollywood Blvd. Let's honor:

You are correct! Cameron Benson is very one sided and in the position to change the complection of Hollywood. He also has a vision....It will not be long before a street is named after him for all the same trumped up reasons. Leave all the streets named as they are or those people in Washington Park will get lost.

Sure, name it after Obama in that neighborhood, but don't stop there. Continue the like-named streets to fit the "vision" of the black community in that neighborhood, such as:

Barack Obama Blvd
Hoochey-Momma Avenue
Baby Daddy Via
Crack Alley
Welfare Way
Dependence Drive
Body Count Blvd
Criminal Court

Sounds like a wonderful plan for Liberty City. Let's do the plat map right now! I'm sure the legislature will see the vision too!

That way, the residents can "feel at home" in the neighborhoods they created as such.

Well said and I agree...Now with all due respect, the couple wishing to name the street for Obama DID send a request to the mayor, what have you done? I suggest the PBA send in the request to the city, it is at least a start and if nothing else will get the city's panties in a bunch because now they will have to make a decision.
