The new escapes represent ADTs lack of any knowledge whatsoever regarding what's right for the job. The new escapes are the worst choice they could make for patrol vehicles, from their lack of space and comfort for patrol officers wearing full duty belts and getting in and out constantly, to the escapes A pillar mounted airbags which make it impossible to mount searchlights, our most valuable piece of equipment, to the escapes lack of interior space to mount any mandatory equipment, I.e. a communications radio. Additionally, by ADTs own teachings, the first component to security is a strong visual presence, which the escapes lack at every turn. A strong visual presence can be very intimidating to those looking to challenge security elements. The news escapes look like patrol vehicles for a Disneyland mall cop. They are a joke of a vehicle and represent ADTs corporate decision making that has long been made without any real world knowledge of the officers in the field, their needs and desires or the challenges they face day in and day out. The decision to use these escapes is very simply and obviously made by two factors; ADTs and GE Capitals sweet kick back deal with Ford and ADTs desire solely to use four cylinder engines for the fuel savings. Well, nobody can argue with fuel savings, especially in this day and age, however, now, in 2012, with the death of the Crown Victoria CVPI, Ford has introduced the Taurus and Explorer patrol vehicles, both of which use ecoboost v6 engines, calibrated for maximum fuel efficiency, which can cost only minimally more than the 4 cylinder in the escape, while adding huge massive benefits over the tiny uncomfortable Escape. Is the decision to use the news escapes a surprise to any of us patrol officers who work in the field every day? Yes and no! We are surprised that ADT fleet services knows so unbelievably little about the uselessness of the vehicles they purchase and we wonder how anyone so ignorant could have that job, but then again, it's not a surprise at all because ADT doesn't care one bit about the needs of its patrol officers or field techs. Corporate decisions are made based solely on numbers without any knowledge whatsoever of the jobs those decisions are affecting. Those who make the decisions have never worked patrol, have never asked any of the patrol officers what we think and have never cared one bit about our ability to do our jobs. This is a company that won't even spend the money to mount light bars on top of its patrol vehicles, vehicles which, by the way, routinely respond to alarm activations, panic alarms, armed response calls and many many other emergency situations. Now, with the addition of the new escapes, we can't even mount searchlights anymore? Unbelievable! My how different ADT would be, could be if only those in the offices knew what the jobs they do are actually for.

Yikes! I just thought the new Ford vehicles simply look cool. I never really thought about it from a patrol man point of view. I can see why the guy is so pissed.

Awesome! I would have never imagined ADT partnering with Ford. A match made in auto-heaven? Kudos to both companies. http://www.homesecurityconcepts.com/
