Friday nite, Indiana's finest busted up a huge gambling operation that has been going on for years at the VFW. Four undercover agents came slinking into the club, took a table in the dark, and made their fearless raid after being asked to show proof of membership. Seems they took exception to the Super Bowl wager board the combat veterans and their significant others had contributed to. Anybody that is as appalled at this as I am needs to contact Jud McMillan, and have him get this practice banned in the future. I know I slept much better last nite knowing that the Indiana Gestapo was serving and protecting me from the vice occuring at the club. Pussies!!

I agree that this isn't the biggest crime in the world, but you are WAY out of line. I have no idea what officers took part in this but they are doing their jobs and enforcing the law. Your slurs and insults towards them are uncalled for. If you have a problem with the law, fine, work to get it changed. But I am sure the VFW knew full well that this is not legal and to suggest that only members and family are the only ones involved is probably naive. After all, they are open to the public for food service all the time and I am sure they didn't turn down anybody's money.

Bravo. Well put. It's about time Dave gets checked in line. You broke a law boys. Being "combat" vets doesn't grant you any immunity. See if you restricted it to "members" (real members) those guys would never have gotten in the door!!!!!!!!!

The VFW pays thousands each year in sales and payroll taxes to the state. Further, we pay hundreds each year for a gambling license for pull tabs, which should include wager boards but doesn't. Apparently, it doesn't matter that the members sacrificed their time, and some their lives, so that all of us could pursue our life, liberty, and happiness. For the gestapo to come in and "steal" the members money is wrong. You obviously are not a member. I do plan on working to get private clubs exempted, especially VFWs. Hope you feel as charitable when the gestapo busts your door down for no valid purpose.

Excise went to several places last night. Eagles got a write up as well but it is very common for at least one fine to be handed out every time they drop in on a place. Makes them look like they accomplished something. Easy way for them to collect some extra money from fines.

The simple fact of the matter is……
Every workplace in the country will have a pool for every major sporting event. It doesn’t hurt anybody and, depending on the size of the pot, it might REALLY benefit one lucky individual.
When a similar bust was made in Liberty years ago I thought it was insane. Yeah, I know,“It’s the law”. Let’s have all the Puritans among us inform on co-workers who DARE to violate the law by adding a little spice to the Super Bowl, NCAA, etc. Think of all the money the State can generate in fines.
Connersville is currently suffering a rash of home burglaries. I’d much rather the State boys help out on that than spend their time worrying about a private club betting on a sporting event.

I have asked him to introdue legislation to exempt any 503c (non-profit) who has a valid gambling license from excise rules and regulations pertaining to wager boards. Will greatly appreciate your support.

Because I expect the VFW to be the organization it should be instead of just another BAR in brookvegas I have a "hard on" for the V??? Well I guess with your narrow view you would think that. Rest assured, I am a LIFE member, combat vet and none of your little blurts impress me. Keep it above board and you don't have to worry. I would think the V would stand for honor and obeying the law!!!! Flame on!!!

I thought they had to flash a badge as soon as they enter the building.....
NCIS does.
I don't disagree with keeping clubs legal and yet I also agree with Dave.
Dave........
The image you portrayed in your first post was kinda funny!
Like a meth lab had been busted! LOL
The law should be reviewed yes.
Was identification of the agents shown or did they just say "SURPRISE"?
Your friend,

I pay thousands each year in taxes. I pay for a drivers license and a license plate, which includes even more taxes. I like it when I can drive fast, so I like it when the speed limit is 90, but it isn't. Apparently, nobody appreciates the truly honorable sacrifices I have made in the past, since I can't make my own rules now, and I have earned the right to do that. For those damn cops to do their work, conduct an investigation and then have the nerve to expect that I or my friends need to comply with the law because we are "private" is unthinkable. Bastards. I hope someday you guys can be just like us. Because we are, obviously, above the law and better than the rest of you. Dammit.

They missed the perfect time to bust the"V". It should have been on the night Tater and Tina sing. That is the true crime.

Ok, the bottom line is the V broke the law, so suck it up and go on. Let this be a lesson you learned for the future.

Dave, it just goes to show what kind of person you really are to come on a public internet site and voice your complaints. Put it in the paper where most will see this.

Don't take it out on The State Excise for doing their jobs! They are doing what their boss tells them to do if not chop chop people.

Tina and Tater, they are not funny or entertaining what so ever. So who ever is considering hiring them, IMHO don't waste your hard earned money. My 8 year old does a better job!

Thanks for the contact info. I will encourage him NOT to introduce any legislation. I support adhering to the laws.

What does it say about you (supposedly the leader at the VFW) to come on a trashy site like this to talk about the VFW? That alone speaks volumes! I don't think it matters what the money was going to go for or who it was going to help out, the fact of the matter is it's against the law to have a wager board w/o any type of license to cover that type of gambling. Go cry in your beer because you think you are above the law, it has cost the VFW all the fines. GOOD WORK DAVE! Great leadership! NOT!
