I don't care how uppity the B%B's,the muscle building gyms or the expensive fine dining joints, with no parking spots, there are.....
Why can't we put some focus on Main Street infrastructure?
It is a state highway and we have a so called State representive from Brookville.......
No, I don't even profess know grant stuff!
Not my skill.

If anyone knows how to get a grant to smash the concrete trashy chickens, replace sidewalks, get rid of that factory stench smell and pave and widen Main Street, perhaps we could a real company with skilled workers in here..........
That $600,000 could have been a start!

I don't understand why a total of 20 jobs on the hill and 30 some in Jud's family business is considered a big boom in development of out our economy..........
Is anyone in Indiana aware of our dire situation here in Franklin County?

If the owners of the building on main would clean some of them up it would help a lot some spots look bad. Down on the 700 block there is no window in someones apt, that sounds like something someone should take care before smashing chickens

Who our State Rep. he fixed a parking spot for his Case House deal with grant money. he fixed an over look and a sidewalk next to the theatre and he fixed the grant process too. Only thing he fixes round Brookville is his own personal interest. All you girls that go to that gym to try and catch his eye can jump in here. He is a true GOOD OLE BOY. Can someone post the FBI phone number so I can have all this investigated to see if all this grant deal he has pulled is legal? He gave his mom a grant, he is on the grant board in Lawrence, he set up the board here so the grants had a place to go through in Franklin Co. then awards a 600,000.00 grant to HIS Momma. WOW he is one brazen little bastard. I would also like to see the receipts for the 400,000.00 you stuck in that old building. That whole block isnt worth that. And there are like what 25 people that go to the theatre, let alone 2 theatres like the BIG CITY how freaking stupid does he think we are? He has had all this grant work planned for a long time and it all falls into place like a Fairy Tale. Hes not helping FC hes helping hisself. For what 30 minimum wage jobs. I have talked to a few business owners in Brookville and they are all really upset about all of this. And so am I.

I think what you are trying to say here is unethical behavior from an elected official or conflict of interest? Or just plain old crooked behavior. Or is it self entitlement? Or the fleecing of America?

Of all the horrendous roads we have in Franklin County, Main Street is the worst!

Lets do something to fix it. I believe, but I'm not positive, that each property owner is responsible for his or her own sidewalks as they pass through their property, so we could encourage those whose sidewalks are unkempt to fix them. I understand that's probably an expensive project for most people, but what if we encouraged it by patronizing their businesses, buying more stuff locally and making our thoughts about a new side walk known while we're there? A nice looking business will draw in more people-- maybe all those people who use the state highway to pass through our little town but rarely stop.

I'm still thinking about the other problems you've posed... I'll be back with ideas, I hope.

What ideas do you have? This is a great place to post them, even if you're not sure about them, because no one knows who you are and can't ridicule you in your "real life." Be bold!

Well, The sidewalks will be hard to improve until those chickens go back to the coop.
That would be my first baby step anyway.......

Alright, alright, the chickens are weird:). Maybe they could be encouraged to be "canoefest only" decorations, and cooped up the rest of the year. Are the chickens owned by the business owners? If so, encourage the change the same way we encourage the fixing of the sidewalks, and this one is a cheap fix.

Make the chickens like Christmas lights-- wonderful and heartening in their time and place, but out of place most of the year.

Brookville has one of the best run town councils I've ever come across and I've covered a lot of them from California to Virginia. INDOT has discussed street scape improvements with them and since it is INDOT's call the council is working with them. Scheduling is or was last time I looked up in the air and in INDOT's hands or wherever they store that sore of thing. The object is to make the streets bike and handicapped compatible. It's make things purdier.
The move towards improving two parts of town should be looked at as improvements. Well, they have to be looked at that way. All the stuff behind the scenes is the stuff behind the scenes.

Regarding the aroma, sing this to the tune of Red River Valley:

Now in Brookville the air smells of asphalt
But as long as the shing-i-ling sells
It's the jobs that the plant brings to Brookville
So the folks there put up with the smells.
