Hold your judgement. You've only seen one side of the story, and those are only allegations that are yet to be proven. To my knowledge, no one has lost a dime at this point. And consider,if there turns out to be merit to this, Jerry could have been duped himself since he was not the money handler.

Do you really think Mr Willhelm will bring charges against a "good o boy" just out trying to make a living? Come on people get real he is from Brookville!!
The States Attorney General is just trying to get re-elected or some other excuse. After all a Ponzi Scheme.

Hold on. This may or may not be true. This guy has a lot of family that live in our community. Before you start bashing the guy can't you wait until the authorities do thier investigation and find out if he gets convicted.
If he did do this it is a terrible thing, but he is still innocent until proven guilty, and coming on here and slamming Mel is not fair. He hasn't even had time to show the community what he intends to do with this case.
Don't turn this into another trash talking thread. Remember other people from other towns read this. Do we really want to look like a bunch of idiots? This town is better than that! And don't forget the guy has kids, they didn't have anything to do with this and bashing him will hurt them worse than it will ever hurt him. Let the legal system do it's job. If this is true he will be dealt with, and lets hope that the victims get thier money back.

I highly doubt the attorney general of Indiana is worried about getting votes from Franklin County. It was the Indiana Securities Exchange that turned this over to the attorney general which filtered it down to Judge Kellerman for the injunction and freezing of assets. Mel Wilhelm as the county's prosecutor will have to review and decide whether or not any criminal charges are filed OR Mel Wilhelm will step down from the matter and ask the court to appoint a Special Prosecutor. I personally know several people who have not been able to get the money they invested with Jerry Smith back. 40 victims,$4,000,000! These allegation are HUGE. I feel for the victims in this matter. If you have never been a victim of a white collar crime, then you really don't have any understanding of the frustration and anger that the victims are feeling. If these allegations are true, which they appear to be, I hope he goes to prison for a long time.

Jerry Smith duped people out of their money. I could really careless if the Snelling guy pulled one over on him or not. People trusted him and he deceived them. Sorry you don't know any of the victims involved in this. Perhaps if you did, you wouldn't have this opinion.

You obviously do not know Jerry Smith. It is not in his genes to dupe anyone. The facts will come out. He is also an investor, along with some of his closest friends and family. As I said earlier, hold your judgement. I really don't believe if someone was trying to dupe someone that he would have personally contacted his "victims" to tell them about the allegations before the news broke.

Sounds like it was easy for him to dupe people. He sure has you duped. Yes, white collar criminals do contact their victims in attempt to discredit the allegations coming out. Happens every day. "I didn't do what they are accusing me of". "Trust me, they are lying". lol. And when that doesn't work, he will then accuse the victims of lying. Jerry Smith was an a$$ before this even went down. Karma is just catching up with him. Sure glad I'm not the one who invested $100,000 with him and have not been able to get it for over 2 months now. You seem to know Jerry so well, why don't you ask him why this man's money has not been returned to him. Two Months!!!! Jerry duped people into investing into this scheme. PLAIN AND SIMPLE! These victims did not seek him out, he SOUGHT THEM. Do you get it now? The thing about business partners is if one partner commits a crime, the other partner will pay as well. That's just how it works. Madoff at least had the balls to admit what he did.
