Any suggestions on how to overcome the Epidemic of Heroin addiction-besides methadone? Just see so many young people, good people losing everything to it.

Overdoses on the rise too.
The schitt isn't always pure and can be cut with anything including baby powder and some other bizarre junk..........
Terrorists countries make their money raising, selling it and other border countries are glad to traffic it up to the USA for a price.
This is all while our troops are over there trying to rebuild these very counties that make their living on Opium Poppy crops
It's a less obvious approach than crashing into the trade centers in NY.
Their goal, in my opinion, is kill the youth in this country then they die off early..........
Can't join the military or law enforcement ranks let alone go to a trade school or college.
I'm afraid it's unstoppable!
I don't even know if methadone even works for this addiction.
How long does someone even have to take it and pay for methadone anyway?
Insurance of any kind will not pay for it and I have been told the addicted person must pay cash up front for treatment..........
These clinics are popping up everywhere and are making tons of money due to the addiction of opiates.
That is my view but I don't think there is an answer except PRAYER for the ones suffering.

Stop the drug dealers around our county. One man who lives on "H" road off of 252 has been dealing FOR YEARS. heard he goes out to Arizona desert and aquiring with uhaul trucks or hiring young guys to drive there and get it so the word on the street was. Another is a semi driver who has been in prison before, but now out, just left for Texas, who knows why and who was he hauling away with him to Texas? The big dealers around this county just keep on keeping on and never get caught,WHY? D.N. was and probably still is one of the biggest dealers in Brookville area along with his 3 brothers and feds and cops knew about him back in the 80's and he has never been arrested for any drugs or pot yet. He hides behind the status of the family name. Makes me sick, I know they spend years watching some dealers to get to the big guy, but it's been almost 30 years and he is still at it, big time I'm sure. makes a person wonder how they NEVER get caught

Yes, there is an amazing new drug to help those with an opiate addiction. It is called Suboxone. Methadone is an antiquated drug (although respected for being the first drug developed to help addicts) and it is highly addictive. My experience with Methadone users is that most of them end up abusing it and detoxing from it is pure Hell - just as horrible as getting off Heroin.
Anyway, I would highly recommend looking into Suboxone. Although some people say, "Oh, it's just exchanging one drug for another." That's true in the simple sense that you are replacing one drug with another, BUT the question is: "Are you willing to do whatever you need to do to get clean." Suboxone does not get you high, in fact, if you use opiates while taking Suboxone, you will totally have wasted your money because Suboxone works by blocking the receptors in your brain that give you the euphoric high that addicts desire. You will not get high if you use and are on Suboxone. Also, contrary to popular belief, you do not have to take Suboxone forever. Taken for a period of time, to be determined by your dr, Suboxone was developed to gradually help the receptors in your brain return to a normal state. Research has shown that people become addicted to opiates because continuous using actually changes the neurotransmitters in your brain that respond to opiates and the effect they have on someone. This helps explain why people become addicted gradually. Opiates are highly addictive, as we know, and one's tolerance to the drug keeps increasing. Why is it that people can start out taking pain meds like a normal person but others can't? So, this is my non-expert attempt to try and help explain how addiction happens. No one wants to become an addict. Please realize that research, thank God, has shown now that addiction is a disease, NOT A BEHAVIORAL PROBLEM. Addiction makes people do horrible things that they would not normally do in the past. All morals, values etc they once possessed are cast aside in order to use. That does not excuse bad behavior but hopefully helps people understand those with addiction problems. What the medical community now realizes and is focusing on is targeting and treating the underlying reasons people become addicted in the first place. Most addicts have undiagnosed mental illness issues that have gone untreated with therapy and medication. Many addicts were unaware of a mental issue and have self-medicated in order to feel normal; not realizing why they never "felt right".
So, check out Suboxone or recommend it to someone who is struggling with addiction. Also, 12-step programs, Narcotics Anonymous (which are sorrily missing in Brookville) are a huge key to recovery. Addicts need support from other addicts.
If you ask me, the community of Brookville is partially responsible for the addiction problem. Why haven't they made it a priority to get Alcoholic Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings in their town and in jails. How do they expect an addict in jail to recover just by locking them up? Yeah, that will really help. That's a disgrace if you ask me, Don't they realize Franklin County has had an out of control drug problem forever??? Heroin is rampant among young people. Don't kid yourself and think Heroin is not readily available at Franklin Co High School - it is. It's cheap and available. Kids don't see it as any big deal anymore. You don't have to shoot up, you can snort it & smoke itl. People who say they'd never shoot it, do. I did.
Thanks for reading this. Recovery is a long road, I deal with it every day. But I would never have gotten clean without N/A and Suboxone. Oh, Suboxone is prescribed only by certain dr's who have been approved to prescribe it. You have to do some research to find one. You can find a dr who takes insurance and I get mine without paying anything using a coupon from the Internet on the Suboxone website. Check out the CCAT (CAT House in Cinci)

All the above post are from the same idiot! Why don't you quit making an ass out of yourself and just use the same name to post all the time. Just because you change your ISP does not mean we don't know your the same crazy person talking to yourself. Do you think we don't know? Well hun no one as stupid as you are! Are you practicing your writing skills or are you so pathetic that you have nothing better to do with your time? Probably the later huh? Poor thing LMAO

Sorry, but suboxone has its own issues. It works for a few. Don't believe it can't be abused and you can't OD on it. If you DO try it, be sure the dr is TRAINED and CERTIFIED to prescribe it--you MUST have therapy at the same time with a licensed addictions therapist and most important you MUST establish a plan to reduce and eventually (like in 6 months or so) be totally off of it. Trust me.

Um....I only found out about this site in the last few days and no, I am not practicing my writing skills. I am a well-educated heroin addict. Obviously you are ignorant of the entire issue. Why did you bother to comment as you said nothing that pertained to the subject which happens to be "drug addiction". That's why I hate these sites. I was just trying to comment on something I do happen to know a lot about, through personal experience, and trying to possibly help someone get help sooner than I did. I am not the same person with a different name. But thanks so much for reminding me why these things are a stupid waste of time and, don't worry, you won't see me on here again. But I bet you will be....poor thing LMAO but doing something else with my time.
So, To: "Nope" Yes, I agree. All of these drugs have their drawbacks. I was just responding to an old post, I think, where someone asked about an alternative to methadone. Everyone responds differently to medications, so it was just a recommendation and it did and still is working for me. Addiction sucks no matter how you look at it. Therapy, 12-step programs, etc. are def. necessary for successful recovery - you're right. Wishing you continual good luck in your recovery.

If you knew half of what you thought you did you would know you cant help these drug heads unless they want to be helped, and then why should it be the tax payers responsibility? The drug heads YOU made the choice to take that first hit and then you are addicted. NOT MY PROBLEM!

Around 1935 the Chinese government wanted to end
the opium problem. Addicts were given one year to
get clean or get shot. Executed around 8,500.
Very, very effective.

. For as many post that you post 24/7 I think you deserve the honor if being the TROLL. I have been keeping an eye on your post , your writing skills (which are not up to par) and all the names you post in this site, Connersville, Oxford, Harrison, and Batesville sites and frankly you have a problem with people. I tend to think you are a very jealous person who has no one in your life and you feel no remorse or have no feelings for anyone. You are also seeking acceptance and that us why you start a thread and use several names and respond to yourself. I suspect you suffer from bi-polar and are possibly depressed. I also think you are jobless and that your family has nothing to do with you. Do yourself a favor , walk away from your computer and go take a walk.
