Real solutions to the flu
If you really want to stay healthy this flu season, the answer is pretty simple. It all starts with the top three nutrients for flu prevention:

1) Vitamin D
2) More vitamin D
3) And yet more vitamin D

If you're not taking at least 5,000 IUs of vitamin D each day during the winter flu season, you're probably vitamin D deficient and that's making you a sitting duck for influenza.

In addition to vitamin D, there are all sorts of other herbal remedies, trace minerals (like zinc), and superfood nutrients that can help protect you.

And, of course, don't suppress your immune system with flu shots, chemotherapy or prescription medications. All those things make you more vulnerable to infection and makes you a repeat customer for the "sick care" cartels that profit from human suffering.

@Oglala -I agree with you. Dang a bunch of terrorists, what's scary is this government of ours!-and that is pretty dang sad! Other than my boyfriend, I don't let anybody know what I have or don't have. There are too many people like the one that snitched on that prepper as well as the ones who will be chomping at the bit to steal your stuff ...and the ones who will want to move in like you did all the prepping just for them. I do know some people who have what the government would call an arsenal. lol Some are hunters and some are just collectors - no nut jobs. lol I went to an auction a year or two ago where the man had over 300 guns of all kinds. They had a tent set up that was probably 100'X40' and it was FULL of guns and people buying them -standing room only! They were running background checks on the buyers.
Boy I would have been so mad if I had been that guy. I would be wanting to sue the heck out of the government! He's lucky he didn't get killed. He was wise in running for the woods! Things like that is why I don't ever want close neighbors.

@Flu Pandemic -thanks for the info. I agree on Vitamin D and the flu shot. Me and my mother take at least 2,000 IU's (gel caps) in the warm months and 4,000 IU's during the winter. I am thinking about upping our doses to 6,000 IU's because of this flu. I honestly do think that Vitamin D gives the immune system a HUGE boost.

@Ab.. I don't use Oracle or Java or allowed it to be installed on the corporate mainframe servers or computers as a gateway to anyone and everyone sitting out in Timbuktu.

From a personal standpoint, I keep software at a bare minimum and take the stance that if I don't use it daily, I don't need it. I never saw the need for a punchbowl set to have to clean all year long to only use at Christmas. I had to laugh at UNA's story on Tupperware jumping out of the cabinets.

The "practical" solution is for departmental servers and main computers to not install anything they suspect, no matter how popular it may be. "Physician Heal Thyself".

I am still running Windows-98 and do not use any of the Office suite of software products including PowerPoint. I have a cd that I can reload this PC back to day one and I "like" nothing on Facebook and even on Topix, I look at very few weblinks and even when I do I immediately purge all temporary internet files and "add-on" data. This old machine works well except for the typist. hehehe

I saw the comments earlier on Piers Morgan and tend to agree that he is quite arrogant, but I never saw the logic behind watching or reading anything one dislikes. I saw him once and that was enough. LOL I don't even watch Bill O'Reily. The first time I saw him he was funny, the 2nd time was "Why am I watching this"?

I dislike and don't listen to, read, or watch those with an agenda to shove into my face. That includes pundits, politicians, Topix posters, Facebook "news" and especially preachers. LOL

I'll tell ya Roaming, I have been waiting for two days to get washed into Barren River. According to Topix severe weather warning we are supposed to have had flooding. It hasn't rained enough here to float the Tidy-Bowl man in his little john boat and I do mean john. LOL.
It has been pouring rain here off and on for 3 days and just now started again. Maybe the weather people think my water is going to run downhill and give you a flush. LOL

Good morning, everyone. The flood that Una has been waiting for has arrived. It's been pouring on and off all night here. Hope everyone had a good night's sleep. Flu season is in high gear, so I told hubby that it might be wise to skip church services this morning. I don't think Our Creator will mind.

The Creator might not mind if I skip since I can worship here as well as there and quite often even better. But I am betting those little boys and girls from the Housing Project are waiting on me to come sit with them and help them sing "Blessed Assurance". Take care folks, dog is anxious to get out of here too LOL

You know, I am blessed at this old age to have never had the flu in my life. I get my Vitamin D from the sunshine. I guess I won't get much today. LOL

Trouble is, that poor prepper has no recourse, thanks to the Patriot Act (from Bush)that started the slippery slope to The National Defense Authorization Act (signed into law by Obama). The NDAA greatly expanded the government's reach for search and seizure, among other infringements on our personal liberties, in order to "keep us safe" from potential terroristic threats.

Good morning Uglylala. Lol. It's ok to fall off of the wagon ever now and then. I stay off the wagon most of the time, worse than falling off of the horses. Lol. I have got to get off of here and get ready for Sunday School and church. I guess I will brave the elements this morning. Lol.

Good morning bird threaders. Same here on the weather. Poured all night. Finally stopped and I can hear some birds chirping. It is nice and warm so all the windows are going up until the next downpour. Tonight it is suppose to turn into freezing rain. Big temperature drop in store for us. Good day to stay in.

Hope everyone has a wonderful rainy day!

Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and zinc are good things to take in order to decrease the severity of colds. I take supplements because I do not get enough in my diet. That's my fault though.

Good morning AW. Shoot I don't watch that little twit Piers Morgan. First I'm not so sure I could stomach it and second I don't get the channel he comes on. But when I heard that somebody put him firmly in his place I had to go to YouTube and see it. lol Even though he is about like fingernails on a chalkboard X1,000, he is doing some very informative interviews on this gun control topic. I agree on Bill O'Reilly and another is Rush Limbaugh. But the days that I do listen to Limbaugh, a lot of times I get news that doesn't come out in the mainstream for several more days. The same for Glen Beck.

Even though my ancestors on all sides of the family originated from the same general area as Piers Morgan, I agree with Oglala and I am glad they left. Just like anywhere else I'm sure there are some good people there but in general, I'll pass.

Yes AW, but you know how dog enjoys Sunday School, don't be selfish. LOL. I do take vitamin D3. My doctor put me on them. He said I was deficient in them. Just over the counter stuff, but they are doing the job. I rarely have the flu and do not take a flu shot. I had rather risk being bitten by a Copperhead. When I was a kid we all had the flu. The next fall my dad took us all to get a flu shot. I was sick within two days from taking that thing. I was sick for three weeks. The flu usually lasts 3-5 days anyway. I haven't had a flu shot since that day. Only had the flu once in that time.
