Hi, I work in this wonderful landmark, truly amazing! I am in dire need of historical info on this structure I would like to share with students. There are rumors that it was a hospital and most intriguing of all; it was a morgue!!! if you have any info, please feel free to share.

Thanks,
Mendez

I attended this school back in the 50's. I went to kindergarden and had Ms. Simpson. I had Ms. Robinson in 1st grade, Mrs. Gahn in second grade, Mrs.Ascher the Ms Giddens in third grade, Ms. Saxon in fourth grade, and then was moved to PS 299 to be in the IGC program with Mr. Jayson for 5th and 6th grades. All the basics I learned here..... very fond memories.....

I'm an old man and this computer stuff is very hard for me.----- I'm typing
this with one finger.
The photo shown was probably taken in the 1930's or possibly earlier.
I went to P.S, 106 from about 1937 or 1938 from first to sixth grade - then on to Junior High School 85. I remember the soda fountain store at the right side of the photo.
Best remembrance of P.S. 106 -- winning the sixth grade "fire safety" essay and going to City Hall where Mayor Fiorelo LaGuardia was going to give all winning students from all schools their medals. No such luck - some flunky handed them out but Mom took me to a Horn and Hardut restaurant across from City Hall. That was really a treat.
Best Wishes to all P.S. 106 alumni.
P.S. I delivered the Brooklyn Eagle on Putnam Av from Knick to Bdwy.

This photo is the way I remember P.S. 106. My folks lived at 1296 Putnam Ave.(not Putnum). All
my kid things were lost when my folks moved from Brooklyn to Long Beach, California in 1951 while I was in Korea. In the photo you can see part of the sign for the "ice cream parlor" on the southeast corner of Wilson and Putnam. As a treat my dad would sometimes send me to buy a gill (young people will have to look that up) of vanilla ice cream. I can only remember two other kids from 1937' Frank Marchese (doctor) and Alan Schwartz (attorney). I became a Civil Engineer. Good luck and best wishes to the current students of P.S. 106.
