If anyone can remember, would love your help. Back in the 70s, I used to go to work with my dad. His store was on Broadway and Dekalb. Right accross from a McDonbalds that used to be there. Where the smell of hotcakes would fill the street early in the morning as all the store keepers started lifting their gates to open before the streets was full of people and traffic.
every morning I remember nagging him for money to get hotcakes.
There was a priest, I think from Grene Avenue that used to walk up and down the neighborhood. I remember he stopped by my dads store a few times to say hi and to talk a few times. I really liked him. He was cool. I remember hearing on the news he was found shot. I cant remember his name. I think everyone had to know him. I think he worked with kids in the neighborhood. Does anyone remember him or his name or what happened. He left such an impression on me and I would like to put a name to my memory of him.

I believe the McDonalds was located on Broadway and Patchen near Lafayette Ave.

Sorry I can't remember the priest you refer to. I lived on Dekalb and Knickerbocker ave from 1968 - 1972 and remember this intersection well. Wasn't there a "Buy Rite" store if you go in the direction that the camera is pointing. The 38 bus used to stop here. I think it was the last stop.

Buy Rite was west of this intersection. It took over the old Bargaintown toy store. I believe the building is now a condo complex.
