All people deserve a safe, clean and comfortable place to live hower; if the people receiving low income housing do not wish to show their gratitude then they don't deserve the place.

I think "projects" everywhere should be done away with and people should live amongst mixed income neighborhoods and offered training, trade school and be required to work and be responsible for their children and if the offspring aren't being productive they should be required to be removed from the housing.

So I know this convo has taken place pretty much 3 years ago and the pink houses are still in the same shape as it was when this convo took place. I lived there for 25 years and my question is for everyone what can we do to make Pink Houses a better and much safer place for us, and the future residents?

As a black woman its hurts to see how other blacks talk so down about your own neighborhood. How do you expect whites to have respect for us. when we ourself talk bad about where we live. until this day i will never understand whats is so hot about the getto or how the albany project is so bad!should we not try to make it better!!honestly does that put money in our pockets? does it help the neighborhood we live in? does it provided better school for our children? that is why whites will continue to look down at us like animals.its seems like it will take a long time to get it!!!

Please stop this nonsense. All this fabricated tall tales. I grew up in PH. I was 11 when I moved to PH in 1977. There were Jews and Italian still living in the neighborhood. WE had a nice ass park with handball courts. DJ Watkins provided the music doing the summer .We played stickball, traded baseball cards and the whole-nine. We had Pink House community Center which neighboring people from Cypress, Boulevard, Plaza all came to chill or start shit. Mr. Jones God rest his soul was the head of PH Center and we had activities like volleyball, basketball, tournaments, dance classes, pool tables air hockey and table tennis. The center provided outings to Empire skating ring or to the movies. Pink started getting out-of-hand in after the FEDs ran up in CAVEMAN side in 1997. All the young people 8 to 10 years under me wanted to be drug dealers and killers. Then it progressively got worse. After the world trade center was demolished in 9/11 Pink Houses was out of control. I really feel sorry that the people living in Pink house now feel they need to live like savages and smoke pot and drink some sort of booze instead of getting an education, a job or start their own business. You have young parents that let their children run wild they donít monitor them so the product is young illiterate thugs and innocence children in the cross-fires and maybe a handful that make it out.

Pink Houses is something else now but back in the days it was great!!!. I lived in PH since the age of 7 and lived there for about 30 years and i,ve seen so much crap go on i could probably write a damn book. We the tenants of the bldg kept it clean and worthwhile living,we had a beautiful garden in front the hall ways were clean and we even sold candy and soda out the room downstairs. There was no hanging in the hallways or Mr Pop on the second floor would come out and start pouring bleach and amonia to keep you out!!. I lived in a 2 parent household and my father took no shit from neither me or my brother we had rules and that included bring your ass in when that bldg light come on which was about 8:00pm if not it was hell to pay and i,d rather sand paper a lions ass in a telephone booth than deal with my father!! I,ve seen crack viles, gun shells casing i seen a dead body coming down the 5th floor stairs, i remember going to TSS for 5 min and coming back hearing that a sweet boy that lived next door to me was shot and died some days later, and most tragic for me running downstairs because my own brother was shot 7 times. So yes it was a time but through it all i still maintained my education, self respect, pride for me and my only daughter that born and raised there also although i had plenty of friends that went left doing whatever and knew to go right nad believe me it was respected til this very day. My reason for saying all of this is because a couple of people stated it's what you make of it and yes if you start standing alone apart from the people who choose to do wrong then your a winner and maybe someone else will take notice and do the same.Learn to use your indivduality it's yours it was given to you, use your ingenuity to invent something our brothers wait until they get locked up to start using their creative mind frame but it was so difficult to do that while your free. The projects is what you make it and when people wake up and see that it is us just us that make THE PJ'S what it is then maybe it will change when we start making a change where we rest our heads just maybe these landlords, and housing authority people will take it serious. And last but not please let stop bad talking about where we come because everywhere is bad from richest to the poorest everybody got a story especially in the PROJECTS!!!

I lived near Glenwood Houses in the 60's, and at that time it certainly had problems, but now looking back they seem like NOTHING compared to the current situation......

We are so lucky the War on Poverty has worked so well. Welfare is a great system, just ask all these fine folks. Why, the Good Democrats tore down dozens of real neighborhoods and real housing to give us this wonder of the age, We need to vote for more of this so ever more people can live in the benefit of the Liberal massa's plantation system. Thank God for Obama. He's bringing the Miracle of Detroit to everyone.

#238 Oct 21, 2012 learned that there is a ROGUE PERVERT on the loose in BROOKLYN. According to a tipster a BROOKLYN MAN is going around MOLESTING dudes ... who are either TOO HIGH or TOO DRUNK to defend themselves.

In the below pic the PERVERT is spotted MOLESTING a dude who was HIGH ... and trying to buy cigarettes from a local store.

The tipster, who saw the MOLESTATION, spoke to the store owner - who claims that the PERVERT is well known ... and he does that OFTEN TO NEIGHBORHOOD dudes. The store owner claims that he TOLD POLICE about the matter.

And this pic was taken in THE HOOD. The Bodega where it all went down is outside THE PINK HOUSES, a notorious PROJECT in East NY Brooklyn.

Fellas ... go easy on the WEED OR THE BROWN JUICE ... until police apprehend this pervert!!!
