I actually agree with the soap box racers on this one.
The WTS has raised their objections so, in the event that a racer DOES get injured by hitting the building and decides to sue, the courts will have to take the WTS objections into consideration.

when I saw this my first thought was of a bunch of crotchety old men shaking their fists at a bunch of children in wooden cars, but the truth is these 'racers' are adult children. And as such they are capable of building something in their garage that falls apart about halfway down the hill, crashing into my property, and then suing me for damages.

But you and I could race FN because we wouldn't do that. And it does look like too much fun.(:-o)

Several months back, I read about a similar group in California that does the same thing.
They will pick a place VIA private Email messages and then, at the appointed time, they will race down the course.
They are usually gone before the cops show up. Like Gurrella racing.
One of the racers got killed a few months back so it might have put a stop to it...

They were right. Apparently, that is.

Brownstoner.com , a real-estate Web site, reported that developer Robert A. Levine had bought the 224-unit hotel from the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society for “upwards of $100 million.”

I have to completely disgree with you on this one.

I agree with the Watchtower on this one.

I know i would not want some dude in a homemade soapbox car that was made out of Cardboard that cost him all of $1.35 to make, roll down columbia hts, hit one of our buildings and the guy and every lawyer in NYC knows we are sitting on $150 Million dollars in COLD CASH

Now who in thier right mind would want a person who is about to sue them knowing how much actual cash they have??

and this is just a fraction of what the wt takes in-
WT has deep pockets, Leroy hits one of thier buildings, a good lawyer from the yellow pages could get a few million JUST TO MAKE IT GO AWAY:

when you are sitting on this type of Cash you don't want folks getting hurt anywhere near your property
so i have to side with the WT lawyers on this one

Had you bothered to read the article, you would see that the spokeman for the WTS said flat out that they were afraid that someone would hit the building and sue them.
