When parents become their teenager's "friend", just to be the "cool" parent, they enable their children in becoming irresponsible human beings. Parents need to be parents. Saying "no" to your teenager teaches them far more than giving in to their every whim. With boundaries and rules comes privileges.

i was on that bus that we rode on... who ever is writing as 'bob' and 'outraged' you guys have the story completely wrong and why do u guys even care anyways?

and especially me being a girl some of the comments that bob has made are VERY offensive, and the same with 'outraged' cause there was a comment made about my best friend that was not true...the comment with the hospital and the stomach being pumped and all...that never happened get the story right if you're going to waste your time on this.

In regards to the post that was taken off this site I agree these kids expect to get everything. Commack Parents I am talking to you stop giving everything to your children make them work for it. To who ever this OUTRAGED person is they should have left your post on. ike you said it seems like only certain people get to voice their Freedom of Speech right.

You get older, HS Juniors/Seniors don't. A HS 11th grader is the same age as a HS 11th grader will be in 20 years.

There are no angels or devils here. I have not spoken against one child nor have I accused any of them of doing anything wrong. I have simply stated that going to Manhattan should not be an option for safety's sake and that living on LI allows them MANY other options. Seriously...enough is enough. I have taught my kids that their actions will cause a reaction. If you didn't want people's opinions to this story then maybe it didn't need to be published on page 2 of Newsday or all over channels 2,4 & 7.

I have made NO COMMENTS about any specific person, the hospital, or their stomach being pumped. All of my posts boil down to one thing:

I think HS kids are much to young to be going to an "After prom" party in the city, UNSUPERVISED.

Well that and the sicko who has intimately engaged with minors.

Outraged was Lisa Lasker and Bob was Mark Lasker.
