This company is terrible. We are the Seller, and they wrote a 90-page report about our house. Our house is not large enough to write 90 pages about. Their inspector was discourteous while in our house. He was only there for 45 minutes, never went on the roof, into the crawl space, under the deck, or put on faucets or the washing machine. However, he wrote derogotory comments about those items and everything else. He claimed that there was evidence of termites in our house. We had a licensed pest control company do an inspection and they found absolutely nothing. He never tried the interior water line shut off valves but claimed that they did not work and we should replace them. He claimed that there was improper wiring in our basement but we had a licensed electrician do an inspection and he found nothing. They killed our sales transaction and they will kill yours too.

My company does not perform inspections in the State of New Jersey I have no idea what this person is speaking about.

I am not sure which place to post this review, so I am putting it on both numbers. I looked at a house last week. The listing said “all updated recently, under warranty, all COs and paperwork in order”. I had an engineer from Heimer check out the house. The engineer told me the roof, boiler, and water heater were old. He told me the electrical service was not updated recently. And he told me that he doubted they had a CO for the second floor because of the way it was built.

I wasn’t sure if Heimer was right, so I went back to the broker and asked for the paperwork, warranties, and COs. It turns out that the only paperwork the seller had was a listing from when they bought the house in 2008. Heimer’s engineer was 100% right. I’m not buying that house, but I will use Heimer for the next house.

I just reread TAL's review. TAL's house was in bad shape, and the buyer backed out. Smart buyer. Sour grapes seller.

I just stumbled across this review. I am thinking of using Heimer Engineering. My Attorney recommended them. But then they have this review from someone in New Jersey where they say they don't go. So why is someone posting a made up review? Gotta be careful of that internet.

Tal, I lost a house because of you. You posted this false review about the company. I had an appointment, and cancelled it after I read your review. I set up an inspection with another company. Turns out that the other company doesn't have engineers like they say on their website. They sent this guy who started out by telling me to "read this and sign it, honey". I'm not his honey. I'm a doctor who takes care of people in the emergency room. I asked him a question and he said "this is not a game show sweetie". Now I'm his honey and his sweetie. I asked him if a crack was structural, and he said "do I look like and engineer to you"?

At the end of the inspection, this guy told me that I needed an extension on the gutter, that a faucet dripped, that a closet door was crooked. They had photographs in the report that showed me nothing. They had an infrared camera that the inspector spent a lot of time using. The report said "Infrared Scanning: Inconclusive:".

This was a waste of $895. It was $600 when I made the appointment, but when I got there they added money for a termite inspection and for an environmental inspection. The environmental inspection consisted of the guy looking at the paint.

My husband was in Washington when I hired the inspector. When he came back and I told him about this, he asked why I didn't hire Heimer. I showed him your review Tal. Then, he went to Heimer's website and showed me that the company does not do inspections in New Jersey.

So I left a message on Saturday night. Their owner Harold Krongelb called me back on Sunday morning and answered all of my questions. He came on Monday and inspected the house for only $645. He didn't put pictures in the report, and there was no infrared camera. But he found termite damage, small electric service, an old boiler, too little hot water, an old roof, basement water, plumbing leaks, asbestos, a hazardous gas hookup, and a lot more.

I wasn't so sure I wanted the house. But all of the delays made the seller decide she didn't want to sell me the house.

Tal, this is your fault. I hope you feel guilty.

Thank you Lara. I wish I read your review before listening to Tal.

You have a good company, and you really know what you are doing. You are friendly and were very patient with all of my questions. Thank you so, so much for inspecting the house on such short notice.

I'm confused. I had Heimer Engineering inspect my house that I am selling. They are Heimer Engineering, but they are also home inspectors doing a home inspection. Are they engineers or inspectors or engineer inspectors? And how is an engineer different from an inspector? And then someone named Harold Krongelb did the inspection, and he is a PE? What's a PE?

Now, the buyers looked at the house on a Saturday. But Harold Krongelb inspected the house on a Sunday, because he is Jewish and doesn't work on Saturday because its his Sabbath. I thinks thats good, because I go to Church and everything. But the buyers are Jewish because the wife is wearing a Jewish Star. THey looked on a Saturday.

How come there are so many confusing things when inspecting a house?

I've been a real estate agent for 20 years. I have dealt with all kinds of inspectors, but never one as negative as this. A 103 page report with boiler plate - fear ridden - paragraphs are enough to scare any buyer away. They kill deals and I would find a more balanced inspector to work with
