Full story: TwinCities.com

The same battered economy that prompted Burnsville to pass an ordinance requiring registration of vacant properties has forced the city to rescind the rule.

If the Burnsville taxpayers weren't strapped paying for the White Elephant PAC, the city ground crew that manicures mayor Kautz's hoc back yard, the 500,000 dollar cost incurred from the Minnesota Health Department involvement in mandating the city to CLEAN UP the hoc Commons Park water feature, WE could have afforded those inspectors PLUS returning the laid off police officers to the Burnsville Police Department to handle the Somali gang problems at North River Hills Park. Remember the "Soccer Mom" incident earlier this summer at that Park that was swept under the rug???

This is a silly program that has no value.

Speaking of North River Hills Park and school district #191. If the school district has a 40 plus percent diversity issue. North River Hills Park has a 100%diversity issue. The city council MUST integrate this park and bus at least 80% of the "Diverse" to surrounding parks. As a minority Burnsville taxpayer, I feel threatened in my own neighborhood. All this city council does is waste taxpayer money on frivalis projects while our city goes to pot!!!

I think they dropped the vacant property registry policy due to the Burnsville Performing Arts Center showed up on the list of properties that are vacant!! Homeless? I have seen more and more homeless people in Burnsville in the past weeks, the most recent is homeless people sleeping on picnic tables at the Burnsville Transit Station and in Nicollet Commons Park. Any suspects in the attepted rape at Burnsville's Wood Park a few weeks back??

I'm trying to figure out what happened to Burnsville. When I moved to the AV/BV area in the early 80's, BV was an elite suburb. The h.s. was well-respected, the kids were on track. By the mid 90's there were police calls re: drugs, and BV got another type of reputation. Middle class suburban dwellers moved south to Lakeville/Farmingon or west. Any ideas as to what happened?

YES! We elected Mayor Kautz who clebrates diversity and the arts. Diversity is a good thing only if the funding for diversity comes with the diversity!
