Our deepest sympathies to family of young Brookland student who died last nite, details are sketchy but from what the kids are saying 14 year old boy took his life by hanging himself. Such a tragedy. No name at this time.

I do not know this family, but what a sad situation. Such a waste of young life. My heart goes out to his family and I will keep them in my prayers.

"by hanging himself" based on chatter from kids?

Outstanding way to display a heart felt condolence addressed to family members.

well that is how it happened! I was told by the Grandmother of the girl who went with him to some event recently and she said that this is what had happened. Teen suicide is very tragic and our town being so small, it gets around quick and there is nothing that can help and I am sure the parents since they had to lose their son in this way would like for it to be an example of the pain involved not to the one who has passed away but to his or her family and his or her close friends. And if someone does have suicidal thoughts that hopefully this will make them realize how people care about them and how they would be missed. I wasn't trying to be hurtful or insensitive to the family as some might think. It is and will be a matter in my prayers.

you certianly worded it wrong. but i understood he had recently lost a grandpa and was having trouble handling it. i know his mother was a secetary for brookland school at one time. she and her husband found him when they came home.the best thing is to pray god's peace over them as the next days will be very hard for them.i know what it is to lose someone you love. please don't place blame or be negative or just plain nosey. let them have their time to grieve in peace. a grandparent is hard to lose if that's what happened. i don't know and don't have to know to feel their pain and sorrow.

As always in a small town, you will hear different stories. I have heard he was using a weight system, and the death was accidental. I also heard it was intentional. The end result is same, and it is so sad. When something tragic happens like this, everyone thinks they know all the details. They don't. I think even speculating why he MIGHT have been depressed (if he was depressed) is wrong. Children will deal with loss as they grow up. Saying things like this might give other children ideas that they can't cope with situations. Regardless of what happened, our thoughts and prayers should go to his family and friends. A tragic death like this should not be reason for gossip.
