Does anyone know much about this daycare. We were just looking into a few daycare programs for future possibilities. It would certainly be convienient to take my child to a place right here in Brookland, but I don't want to settle for less than great child care...I'll travel to Jonesboro or Paragould if this place isn't great. Any legitimate comments would really help. Thanks!

I don't know much about it. However, I am in a similar situation here in Paragould. The best advice I can give is some advice that was given to me.
Call the center and see if you can come unannounced one day, just to check it out. If yes, wait a couple of days or a week and check it out for yourself or send a reliable friend. If they say no, run like the wind. They must be trying to hide something.

Instead of calling ahead just drop in and have a look. If they think you will be coming soon they will be putting on a front. Someone will run through the center telling everyone there's a visitor the second a unknown vehicle pulls up.

All centers try to put on a good show. Some are really good and some are all show. Other parents currently taking their kids there are the best references.

Maybe you could try to speak to someone as they pick up their kids.

Our family had and still has problems with Kidz R Us. My 3 yr old daughter calls it the mean school when we pass it. When I pulled her from the centers care it took her dad and I weeks to convince her she wouldn't have to go back there. I could go on about lack of supervision for the children and overall poor management skills that I know still exist. I would also like to add that I did do an unexpected drop in prior to placing my children there. However, it was at the end of my work day when the children were going home and the workers had everything tidied up for the parents arrivals. If you could ever go by when the children are playing outside, that's when I got my best "in your face" proof. One morning we dropped our children off for care and thought a dirty diaper had been changed in the front class. Indeed, it was mold that was finally coming through the wall under the water fountain. Imagine long that had been left unattended to reach that level of repulsion. My 2 yr old was allowed to go potty by herself while still in potty teaching age UNATTENDED. There's just not enough time in my night to tell you all that I could about that daycare. Good luck finding someone that will love and care for your babies.

My friend just took her baby out of that day care. They are horrible! They called her one day, bc the babies feet were turning blue and they didn't know why. My friend got to the daycare asap, to find the ceiling fan on,(during 30 degree weather) and the baby had no socks on!!! She was freezing to death, and they didn't have enough common sense to cover her up, to be warm! I wouldn't recommend that place.

I can imagine there are a million stories similar to ours; when discussing this particular center. Afterall, I couldn't even begin to list all the obvious signs of poorly qualified people both running and working in that center. I would like to add that not all over there are bad but one person can't take care of that entire place.

I feel the owner/owners have little to do with the facility itself. It's an easy way for whoever to make money, IMHO. I also feel that there are people there that love and appreciate the position they have to help raise a child. Afterall, when we take our chilren to a daycare, isn't that what we're asking? However, that does not take away from the facts as I see them. Perhaps, I have too high of expectations of what should be provided by a daycare facility?

When the ceiling fan was on it was reversed to pull the hot air down. We may not have much common sense but we do know to do that. Six out of seven of the teachers either have or are in the process of getting their CDA (Child Development Assosiate) So who is educated about children?

I would not recommend this daycare to anybody-very un-friendly, un-professional and disrespectful to parents, most teachers are young kids with no sense of what's going. Needless to say I withdrew my child.

You are going to get good comments and bad. I had a grandson previously at this daycare facility. The director at that time was fabulous.
However, she is no longer there. Therefore, I cannot speak for the director now because I do not know him or her.

You should just make an un-announced visit and check it out. It has been in business for quite a while.

Im sorry I had the wrong daycare and had my comment backwards. My apologies, Munchkin Land is a wonderful daycare. They take exceptionally good care of children. I would recommend them to any one. Its the home daycare in Brookland that you want to be aware of.

Its a very nice daycare. Just because there was a smell of pee and poop doesnt mean they dont take care of it. The babies that weren't in the floor may have just been changed or was in the process of being changed hence the pee and poop smell. As for the teachers being young, they do know about kids and have younger siblings that they help take care of. They either have or are in the process of getting their CDA license which I believe tell sthem all about kids. So you need to get off the daycare's butt cause they are doing an excellent job.
