I was wondering what everyone thought of the school? I'm thinking about moving into the district.

I have one in Jr. High and one in Middle School, and they have both gone to Brookland since Kindergarten. They love the school. We have alot of great teachers and some not so good ones. There are alot of good kids for you kids to meet. Things won't always be perfect, but compared to many schools, Brookland is pretty good. What grades are your kids in?

You are so right! I went to school there. I was bullied. It was so bad they would yell stuff out in class at me and the teachers did nothing. I hated it there and when I reported it. They acted as if I had done something wrong.

I would suggest you read this thread first:

Then look into some sort of martial arts classes for your kid.

I grew up there and graduated. NO PROBLEMS. I was friends with nearly every type of person there. If you make yourself stand out then you're asking for it.

Do you really think it's going to be any better at any other school?

I currently go to brookland. I will be graduating this year. I've been at brookland since the eighth grade and I definetly do not recommend this school. The teachers are awful, and any authority figure at the school does nothing to discipline anyone. It's a very wild school.

I graduated from Brookland and had no problems at all. The only students who hated the school were the trouble makers. If your looking for a school with no cliches or bullies, you might as well home school your children. Brookland is a great school and I will not hesitate one minute putting my children in this school system.

my youngest child now in 10th grade has went there since kindergarden. No problems at all. However the super is not my favorite person. Principals are very good people as well as the teachers.

Okay. This is topix. You are going to get mostly comments by people with z chip on their shoulder. Brookland is a great school but topix is not the way to find that out. Go there. Talk to some teachers. Talk to some parents. Most schools in the area are good. Better than average. To me brookland as at the top of the list. But my priorities may not be the same as yours. So. Investigate.

I wouldn't recommend this school now. The students aren't really too bad, but since I graduated a few years ago, most of the better teachers have left. Really unfortunate, but most of young teachers there are too worried about fitting in with the students instead of education or discipline. The administration is really good, though, and the elementary and middle schools seem better than the high school.

I graduated from Brookland in 06'. I loved it out there. There are cliques but when I was there everyone talked with everyone. There are some truly amazing teachers out there that truly care about your education. I had no problems out there and don't know of anyone in my class that did. I will DEFINITELY send my children to Brookland. It is a great school!

I have a son in 11th grade and has been going there since kindergarden. We have had no problems. There will be good and bad at every school but Brookland has much more good than bad. I would say that 99 percent of the people who have had problems with Brookland School needs to look at them self and not the School.
