It is sad to see women treated in this manner. Who is gonna stand up for these people if the system continually lets them down.

Very few will stick up for the wife. Most will just hide their head in the sand as if it never happened.

I'm from Volga and I know a bunch of people that plan on going to the trial and will also fight to get him removed from his job as city administrator.

If this all happened after the city employee Christmas party why is it taking so long to lock him up? And why is he still on the city payroll? Why would you want someone like that running your city? I would think it would be such an embarrasement to the city council to keep him on the job.

If it were you or I we would be in jail right now. When you are an "important" person they would like to sweep it under the rug. I feel sorry for Sara. The system is against her. She needs all the support we can give her.

Hang the b---------- Like they did in the old days. It is a crying shame when someone like SARAH has to pay for someone else's problems.
Whatever the reason he beat her is no excuse. She is suffering every day with pain. What is he suffering-------Freedom!?????

watch and see, plead guilty to disorderly conduct, pay a pitance in a fine and he goes on with his life and his high payng job. meanwhile the victim can continue to look over her shoulder, not knowing where he may show up. With his temper Im sure he will be more than alittle upset that she embarassed him and tarnished his image in the community. In other words he will most likely get off and she will get a life sentence trying to deal with the aftermath of this. Hope his new already married girlfriend thinks twice before she leaves her husband.

He's got a girlfriend? Now I see why he was so abusive. He must have wanted Sara to leave.

What I don't understand is here we got the number one city official in Volga, South Dakota, accused of beating up his wife, severely, and not even the local paper did a story on it. I don't see anything in the Argus, KSFY, KELO, only after all this time the Brookings Register finally put a story in the paper. The public should be outraged for what he did! But of course they can't because nobody knows about it.

Call KELO, KDLT, KSFY and the Argus. They will do a story if you ask.

Not only does he have a girlfriend he managed to get her a nice paying city job also. Common knowledge in Volga about his affair. Its been the talk of the town since she was hired and their little after hour meetings together. But im sure they are only discussing city financial business...oops did I say city finance officer.

I heard that on the 9-1-1 call Steve is heard saying "Who they gonna believe, you or Steve Meyer, city administrator of Volga." (Apparently she had dropped the phone during the attack and it was recording for 15 minutes or so.) I hope they play it during the trial.

plan on being let down by the justice system when he gets let off. yes from what I understand there is alot of evidence against him but with those injuries why a misdemeanor assault charge? The victim will be made to look like the guilty person. I just wonder if this is the first time that this has happened? The town of Volga needs to rally around her and let her know that they support her. I was once in a simular situation and all I heard was that I must have done something to provoke him into hitting me. There is no excuse for domestic violence.

We need some banners to hold up outside the court house on July 10th. Everyone can make and bring their own.
