South coast burn, poor choice

South Coast began burning near Carpenterville on 2/10. Winds were easterly and smoke and ash fell on residents in the area. By 4:00pm the air became toxic and some residents had to leave their homes. A better choice would have been to watch the wind direction. A westerly wind would blow the smoke and ash towards 50 miles of vacant Forest service land. Instead, South Coast chose to burn after a long dry spell, during easterly winds and no moisture to help disperse the ash and smoke. Making the air toxic to breath for residents is not in the best interest of South Coast or its neighbors. South Coast, please be a good neighbor.
