If you sold an SKS that slam-fired, would that be considered an automatic? Or any old semi-auto with say a faulty sear, I wonder if they would make you register any of those as Class III, with the $200 NFA Tax stamp. I suppose anything could happen if the situation gets twisted enough. But seriously. I missed the boat on that Sten. I wonder if he has any PPSh-41 parts laying about.

so, it's not entrapment if it's just an informant who asks to buy the guns?

Sounds like there's something missing. If the undercover agent approached the suspect with the idea to break the law, sounds like intrapment. "In whose mind did the crime originate". Did the suspect sell any illigal firearms to anybody else? The sentence sounds appropriate, but there is something missing here.

Guys guys guys.. the entrapment laws have been thrown out by the supreme court, this happened YEARS ago.

The whole "are you a cop?" thing and cops/informants not being allowed to convince you to commit an illegal act has been G2G for quite a while now, it's only illegal in the movies.

Their reasoning was that informants and undercover officers are playing roles, acting if you will, and are thereby allowed to lie to play the character.

Actually it would be. There was a guy in the mideast US last year that got nailed for a FA conviction because he bought a rifle with a factory defect that caused the rifle to fire in FA. He didn't get it fixed immediately and got convicted of possessing a FA rifle.

Just like if you put together an AR lower and accidentally leave out the disconnect spring (or put it in upside down by accident). The rifle will shoot in FA, probably, and although it's not truly a "machine gun" you're still going to jail if you don't fix the problem IMMEDIATELY.

I happen to know Don Nuss fairly well, from his business.
He's a good man, and probably didn't think he was doing anything wrong, he's one HELL of a machinist (know anybody else that can honestly say they have the world's fastest single engine Ford powered vehicle, at a speed of close to 350 miles per hour, and the whole car built by Don...??),and was most likely "entrapped" by the NTF, as he has done some "modifications" on his own personal collection of firearms, the word probably got out to the wrong people what this talented man was capable of, and he probably got "asked" to do some of those "modifications" for a "friend"
You will never ever convince me that Don Nuss is/was the criminal type.
Say what you want, post your inane drivel and verbal diarrhea all you wish. if you don't know the man and what's in his heart, then please S.T.F.U.
Thank You.

Folks we are seeing a growing crisis here!

If only we had strict anti-knife laws in effect at this time, this would NEVER have happened!

Like guns, register all knives! Have No Knife Zones. Consider a serial number for each and every knife sold in this Country. Require a thumb print when purchasing a knife or the equipment used to sharpen them.

Ban the purchase of automatic electric knives! Those are dangerous because of the slices-per-minute (SPM) they can cycle! They have no place in a "free" society!

Now, if all this is so restrictive, let's ramp up the midnight basketball and anger management classes in our schools! The ABC's can wait!

Write your Democratic legislative representative today! Demand senseless action now!

"According to a press release from the United States Attorney's San Francisco office, Donald E. Nuss pleaded guilty in June to illegally dealing in firearms, admitting selling five machine guns over a one-year period. According to the release, Nuss also admitted to converting two semi-automatic rifles into machine guns for a government informant during the same time period and to possessing 10 more machine guns in a safe at his workplace in Crescent City.

According to the plea agreement, the machine guns that Nuss manufactured, refurbished and sold included an AK-47, Sten machine guns, Suomi machine guns, Skorpion machine pistols and a Thompson machine gun, as well as high-capacity magazines."

With the downturn in the US Economy, outsourced manufacturing jobs, and spiraling employment numbers,
it's America's #1 fastest growing occupation; being a well paid snitch for the Feds, or being a Fed. And notice how they targeted a senior pillar of the Crescent City community who vollunteers his time to worthy causes. How much time does the Federal informant vollunteer to non-profits?

Yes, early on in this thread, IF YOU HAD BEEN READING ITALL ALONG, you would have seen that yes, somebody DID diss the man. It has since been removed, apparently.
So, unless you know what you are talking about, you, as well, please S.T.F.U.

It's a busy day and you've got quite enough to do without having to cope with people clamoring for your attention and likely to go into a huff if they don't get it. Is this person feeling neglected because you're busily occupied elsewhere or are there other reasons for their demanding mood? Simply giving them a big hug could make all the difference to their behavior.
