Burgoyne retired from federal service and also served two terms as the Ohio County Sheriff. He is politically connected but he upset the apple cart when he did not support the democratic party. I doubt that he would be expecting a democratic appointment unless the locals don't complain about it. He has been rumored for other appointments over the years but nothing ever happened.

What happened? Has anyone in WV been appointed to a federal position? I saw on the news that the U.S. Attorney in Wheeling resigned.

Yes, the U.S. Attorney for the northern district of WV recently resigned. I would expect that would get things moving on making appointments.

It has been rumored for months that Morgantown police chief Phil Scott was going to be appointed the U.S. Marshal.

The grapevine news is people are being called to the justice office in D.C. for interviews.

Several U.S. Attorney and Marshal positions are being filled. None in WV yet.

Vacant positions of federal judges, u.s. attorney and u.s. marshal are being filled prior to replacing those being held by Bush appointees.

Political insiders say front runners already know who they are?

Several people were recently confirmed including a new U.S. Attorney in Virginia and Ohio. Congress is scheduled to hear another round of executive nominations next week.

As expected, more nominations have been sent to the senate for confirmation. Locally nothing new has surfaced, although Morgantown Police Chief Phil Scott has recently been seen meeting with local media, business and political leaders.This would lead one to believe he is still working on a nomination for the U.S. Marshal job. Both U.S. Senators remain mum on who they are supporting for nominations of U.S. Attorney and Marshal. It appears that the local media may have a hint of what's going on as Chief Scott has been the subject of two recent editorials that were very positive.

It appears to me that Indano does have some "inside" information but I don't find it unusual for a police chief to be seen meeting with people. Nor do I see the connection with the editorials, it's normal for a public official to be the subject of news articles, it comes with the job.

Those of us connected to law enforcement have heard the rumors for months. It's just wait and see now.

Call it what you want but these "threads" are very interesting and more times than not, have a lot of truth in them, If you can get past the occasional idiot who goes off on some rant. I follow local politics and find it very interesting how the process works. I have followed this for almost a year, have done some research and am anxious to see how this thing plays out.
