Girl, 14, dies after Medford crash

Three days after a man driving while on drugs in Medford crashed into a car full of children, a 14-year-old girl died Friday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

Stephen Catalano, 37, the driver of a Jeep that crashed into the Saturn on Country Road 101, was charged with driving while on drugs.
Records show that Catalano, of West Babylon, has an extensive record of previous offenses, including seven convictions for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

The SOB could only be stopped from driving if he'd been in jail for all the other 'extensive previous offenses'. So, why wasn't he in jail. Now----he will be in jail-he killed someone.

this is why the law needs to change. too many people get behind the wheel on drugs and alcohol. it needs to be ONE STRIKE AND YOU"RE OUT! if you mess up even one time, you go to jail for a long long time. then people would act smart. but criminals know they'll never get in trouble, so they flout the law with impunity.

And after all the lawyers get involved with the boohoo saga of Steven Catalano-a Jury is picked-A Trial begins. The trial ends in Vehicular Manslaughter or worse..probably worse-he was on a controlled substance-we will be protected from him. Unfortunately for him-there is NO protection where he's going.
