Mississippi judge jails attorney for not reciting Pledge of Allegiance

Full story: Santa Cruz Sentinel

A Mississippi judge jailed a lawyer for several hours for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, ordering the attorney to "purge himself" of contempt by standing and repeating the oath like the rest of the courtroom.

We have no freedom when we are inspected and watched and listen to by the government. If the government can be selective in its enforcement of law then the public can be selective which laws it obeys.

If you don't like it you should leave the Country and see how you like it where ever you go. I don't think anyone will try and stop you. In My eyes You should still be locked up. You dishoner all the "Service Men and Women" that are now serving to keep this Country FREE! And anyone that agrees with him should packup there belonging and go with the lawer.
Perhaps your education is lacking because of the government.

The trouble is we can be locked up for being selective about which laws we will obey

That depends on who you know and how good a lawyer you have. Money counts.

A prime example of corruption and a person getting away with it.

This amount to judicial misconduct and warrants corrective action being taken by the governing body for judges. The only requirement should be to arise when the judge enters the court room. I remember as a child we did the pledge of allegiance in school in MS which failed to affords equal protection of the law for all citizen. The attorney should rec an apology from the judge for his arrogance and ignorance.

America will fall. You can count on it. When "the people" chose to elect a pagan leader they willfully turned their back on JESUS CHRIST the LORD! Get ready.. Repent believe and be baptized and thou shalt be saved. JESUS IS LORD

America will decline not because of religion but because of corrupt beliefs. Secular humanism is the government guide but then they are sinners and the more a person takes for himself the less the rest believe.

We who do not salute the flag are admonished to heed the law and show respect for the superior authorities. I think the judge here needs to eat some roughage and 'purge' himself

No, actually, it doesn't "repisents" them at all. In fact, the "pledge of Allegiance" represents socialism. And, since we're talking about freedom, that means the freedom to not be forced to utter useless nonsense by others. In fact, if you followed this case at all, then you'd know that the judge in this story was censured and fined, there will be no more making people utter useless nonsense in that judge's courtroom.

LOL, speaking of utter nonsense, the bible doesn't mention the US, the US flag, nor does it even mention the bald eagle. But, the bible also allows men to have more than one wife, and that the age of sexual consent is just after puberty, which would be about 12-13 years old, right?

Good job running that down Richard. The judge folded like a reed in a hurricane. THE MISSISSIPPI COMMISSION ON
JUDICIAL PERFORMANCE v. TALMADGE LITTLEJOHN found that "Judge Littlejohn has admitted all charges of misconduct and joins the Commissionís recommendations."

They'll take our liberty if we LET them. Note the "joins the Commission's recommendations" part. To me, in my opinion, it shows how easily they fold when presented with real personal consequences. Of course, they have no problem levying those on you and I. So what does that tell you?

Well now it makes sense. So the same judge was involved with the racist organization that decades ago required loyalty oaths to Mississippi's segregationist regime. It's a small leap from that involvement in the Sovereignty Commission to, in your waning years, requiring oaths of allegiance in your courtroom. If anything, the judge has gotten more reasonable in his elder years.
