I agree with Amy. Darren was NOT a wonderful father like one of the posters said. If he truly loved his son then A) why would he cause him hurt for the rest of his life having to live without a wonderful mother and B) he didn't seem to care that had Tim not come home to check on Kim, poor Jackson would have been the one to find her bleeding to death. Yeah, loving father, NOT!!!! Sounds like he was in love with himself and that no one else matters. I hope he burns in hell

He worked at a hospital, a very large one at that, he started in January after the retirement of his predecessor, his back ground checks actually delayed his hiring for two months, the supervisor begged the HR department to hire him. He lied and said to the department that it was for a traffic violation and not for failure to pay back child support. He was not depressed, since his arrival he made snide comments the entire time he was here, and spoke of having her killed since he arrived, he wanted to know how far his money would go in Mexico and was delusional on how far it would go, he often bragged about how he had saved 3,000 dollars and what he could do with it. His comments resulted in him not being very well liked here.

Yes i worked with him, i will not reveal where he worked.

Byron Center,
YOU are the cruel person, not Amy. How do YOU sleep at night? How dare you verbally attack one of Kim's friends for speaking the facts. It seems like you can't handle the truth. Stop making excuses for that piece of dirt Darren. He will get what he deserves. Great Father? My ass.

Didn't know Kimberly Smith, but knew Darren Wold, and he often talked about moving to a place he refered to as "A dirty little beach in Rosarito Mexico" with money he had saved. He seemed excited about it. He was just about to leave Texas and take a job in Missouri. His plan was to take the relocation money of $5000 to move to Missouri, but leave the country to Mexico instead. It takes a real dirt bag to use money that could have been spent on child support for his son, but instead useing it to murder his son's mother. Now his son has to grow up knowing that his father had his mother killed, and peers who find out about it are going to pick on him when he gets older. What a tragedy.

To Truth:
If what you are saying is true. That does not mean Darren did not love his son. I do know he did very much, what it would say if he knew his son was going to be home and he was in on this would be he was really really sick and sick people don't do things they normally would. Like I try to keep telling people; I think he cracked or something. When that happens to a person they don't think rationally. I don't believe the statement from TX for sure now. If Darren went around work telling people he was going to kill someone he would of been committed right then and there. I've worked in the health field and I'm here to tell you that that would not go on. He would of been out the door with the police. If anyone listened to comments like that and did not report it they are as much to blame as the perpetrators. He would have been put in a place to get help and all this would of been prevented. I don't believe a word you are saying for sure now. I do not care to hear any of your nasty comments back to me, frankly I have had enough of that. I don't want Jackson reading all of those comments some day. I tried to help people to come together and that failed and now I am going to try to continue to do something productive with my life. Continue to give back to others to try and make this world a better place to live. My husband got up at 4:00 a.m. yesterday and worked until 4:30 p.m. and then went to the center to volunteer for feeding the homeless and less fortunate. He worked until 7:00. I make things and send them to kids that are real sick and dying. Instead of all this hate how about we channel our anger another way and help the people we still can. It truly helps you realize that there is always someone somewhere that has it worse. It makes you realize how lucky you are. How lucky you are to have a child to come home to that is alive, well, and happy. I can not deal with all this hate and these comments anymore because I definitely do not want to end up with the hate some people have in my heart so I will channel everything in a direction that helps me and my family and choose who I want to speak to from now on. I really do not need the negative comments or remarks any longer. I can't change anything so I will just continue to try to do good for others since I have been so blessed. That is all any of us can do to try to get through all of this and it does help.

Byron Center,
I only directed my response to you because I felt like you were verbally attacking Kim's friend Amy for stating the facts as she saw them. I know all this hatred and anger does no one any good. But I also don't think it's fair to defend an alleged killer. Mentally ill or not. There are many mentally ill people in the world who don't murder. My son is bi-polar, so I know all about mental illness, or someone "snapping". Darren didn't just "snap". What he did was pre-metatated (sp). I just don't think we should defend Darren on this site, because Kim's friends and families will read this. They are in enough pain. I know this because I am a friend of Kim's boyfriend Tim. I'm sure Darren's family is in pain as well. I'll pray for all families involved. I just don't feel sorry or bad for Darren in any way. Whether he is mentally sick or not. I'm glad you and your husband are out there doing good in the world. People like you make the world a better place for sure. I'm just asking for respect for Kim's family and friends and NOT Darren. He just doesn't deserve it. Plain and simple. It's also not fair to blame his co-workers for not turning Darren in as he made those horrible comments. Co-workers probably didn't know him well enough to take it seriously. His family however would have. Did he ever express his feelings to them? My bi-polar son once made scarry comments in 7th grade and I immediately had him hospitalized. He got on meds and is now stable. Thank God. Keep doing good for others :)

In actuality his comments WERE reported to HR, they did nothing, in fact their exact words were if anyone had problems working with Darren they needed counseling themselves. We all watched this, he showed up drunk several times after the murder, his behavior changed abruptly after the investigation began, and stopped saying anything to anyone. He continually asked one woman (a cleaning lady) to pray for him to the point of stalking. This is all true, of course if you read the letter of indictment, you would see that he has said that he wanted to have her killed to a coworker (who is my coworker as well). The only reason his comments were not reported earlier is because HR and his immediate supervisors went to bat for him, one of which are no longer with the company. As for your work in health care, i would advise you not to assume that every situation is identical to the situation that you are in now, for ours is a far different situation and more than likely, a different profession in health care than the one you are currently employed in.

I don't think he cracked from losing his job, because I heard he never lost it. I heard he's worked at the same place for a long time. They approved his transfers all overthe place...WI, then south, then Maryland, then Illinois, then Germantown, WI, then Lubbock, TX. I even heard he turn over his dog Rocky? What up with that?

I think people are writing about the dad more than the other two because, if he got along with Kim, none of this would have happeneds. It all kind of starts with him.

I agree with "truths" comments to you. I applaude you for volunteerism and doing good in this world. It's just hard to read your strong support for a person that clearly wasn't who you thought they were.

It's horrible to hear your comments to HR went unchecked. I know he dodged giving the WI courts his true TX address for 5 months, probably waiting the make sure his hiring was secure. Interesting that he was going to "relocate" once again (Missouri), but actually flee. That means he's had about 5 transfers in as many years.

Lubbock...tomorrow is the beginning of Darren's preliminary hearing. I'm sure if you google WTMY4 or WISN12, or the Journal-Sentinel paper you can hear the details. Sorry you had to work with him and hear such hatred.

You are incorrect, he wasnt with the company when he was hired, if he was, then a background wouldnt have been necessary, just a drug test.

All three of them are evil peices of crap who don't deserve the time of day. But I agree with the last poster, it all started with Darren. All three need to rot in prison for taking a mother away from her son. AND for killing her while her poor son was home. Do these people even have a heart?

It should be interesting, as far as hearing those things, after a while it sounded like he was bluffing, when it happened it was, well weird. But looking back, i can at least say that our supervisors will let you get away murder. And the relocation ploy, i have seen that happen once before with a classmate.

The name is misspelled but that is who he was working for when he was arrested, at a Lubbock account. As far as him being in Texas when he was hired, as far as anyone knows, outside of the manager that hired him, he didnt live her.

Here, we get a clear description of the priority of his ministry; one he proved throughout his life by his actions and his words. The point he made about it being the basis for all the laws and all the prophecies, also, adds great weight to importance of that concept. He also clearly stated that one could not love God without loving mankind:
♦ "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also." (I John 4: 20-21)

Thank you so much for what you wrote. I've been trying so hard to bring people together with no avail. I just couldn't find the right words to help people. These are the Lords words and hopefully this will be comforting to all the families. Living with Love is our destiny. I couldn't of said it better.

We all met thru another couple of our friends. Kim and Darren was so nice we fell in Love with them right away. They fit in our little family of friends . It was like we knew them forever. We had Kims baby shower. They were so happy. They lived here for a year and a half to two years. We are in Md and Pennsylvania. I dont know why it says Canada. Kim and Darren were so happy and Baby Jackson was the iceing in the cake . They were so proud. We were verry sad when they moved. Everything was great with them. Then they moved and we lost contact. We realy mised them. Thats why when we heard what happened we could not belive it. I feel sad for Kims family and also the three mens family. We had met Jack Johnson also. He had come to visit when Jackson was born. The sad thing was Jackson was named after Jack.(Jackson) he was Jacksons Godfather as far as i knew. How can people change this much. Like i said Darren ditten have a mean bone in his body. He had to have lost his mind. This realy makes you think twice about your Friends. You think you know them inthen something horrable like this happens. We are all still devestated and just cant belive this could happen. God only knows what happened once they moved. We lost two great friends. I feel bad for all familys involved. As a parent i cannot be responsible for our grown childrens actions. All i can say is this is so sad for everyone involved.

Dear Byron Center
Please give up on "trying to bring people together" through a blog. It is way too early in the grieving process for that and you need to let the justice system settle all questions of guilt. Your intentions seem fine, but unfortunately, defending Darren when you don't have facts is obviously making people angry, and again, your timing is awful ... people who knew Kim are still hurting ... big time. Unfortunately, Darren was not sick, he was highly selfish and egocentric ... he plotted over a long period of time and only thought of himself, he only loved himself. If you believe in God, then you also believe in hell. I'll spare you the 162 Biblical references to hell, but God clearly told us that evil and wicked people will forever be damned to the eternal fire of hell. Only a jury can can collect facts and judge Darren on Earth, and only God knows all the truth and He will judge in the afterlife. So let it go, all good people will move on eventually.
