This is a sad situation for all involved. I guess I am a bit partial because I know Ben personally. I think if you all knew Ben you would know that he never intended to kill that man with one punch. Such a freak accident. Ben is one of the most peaceful human beings I have ever met. For him to even strike the other man means to me he felt threatened. The guy definitely bullied Ben.

The video will show the truth. John had his hand's in his pockets when he was hit. I was not there to know what was said, however- it does not matter. There is plenty of security in Vegas. Hawkins could have just as easily taken the matter up with security. Instead, he reacted with violence. Hawkins is a coach and a teacher and should be a good example for the children he influences.
I do not believe Hawkins meant to kill John Massie, but at the end of the day he did! He needs to be held accountable for his actions! I am sure that Hawkins is a good man as well. However, her killed a man. It was not self defense, or racial! It was a bad decision that killed a man! We all should learn from the actions of this terrible decision. Two families have forever been changed. Hawkins family is a victim as well. John had full custody of his son. He was an amazing father. His son is at the age that he really needs his father. John also has 2 daughters who love and need their father. John also had is mother living with him. He was a major financial support for her. John was a major support in my life over the past 7 years. He spent countless hours helping me and my family. I know him as a loving father, son, brother, and friend. He spent a lot of time helping his neighbors and friends. John did not deserve to loose his life. Many people are greatly effected by the loss of John Massie. I know I will miss him everyday for the rest of my life.
Verbal abuse is still abuse. whether or not his hands were in his pocket or not - it is a tragedy that someone died in this incident, but this is exactly the reason why people shouldn't bully others. Even the most mild mannered of people have their limits. It wasn't Ben's intention to kill a man with one punch. Ben also is a loving husband and father of two daughters. I am sure your friend was a good person too - but both men lacked good jugdment that night and Ben reacted to being provoked and bullied by your friend.

And unfortunately there were no cameras in the bathroom where the bullying started.

This man has abused/hit people in his life that he said he loved. This isn't a shock to me. Come on, self defense, the man killed wasn't threatening him, he had his hands by his side. This is what he teaches the kids at his school, if someone makes a stupid comment, just punch him to shut him up or kill him. I hope Benjamin Hawkins spends a lot of time in prison for all his actions he has done in life.
WTF? What a dumb ass!
