I wouldn't advise anyone to come to Co-op City to live. Not unless you don't mind mice running around your apartment. It doesn't matter how clean you keep your apartment. They come up through the convectors and into your apartment.

I have never lived there, but have visited friends in co-op city and the parking was a NIGHTMARE!

Loops around loops around loops of NO WHERE to park... and if you DO happen to find a spot... everything is built in circles, and all of the buildings look the same. You'll never be able to identify where you left your car

This is all wrong. Queens should not worry about parking. Surely you can have a vassel park for you?

And, I love the loops; they make me dizzy, and I make believe I'm back in Freedomland.

Do you rent your apartment? If you do, how did you go about getting a rental application.

Tonite,
As the name says, Co-op City is a CO-OP not a rental. If you would like to find information on how to purchase a CO-OP here go to www.riverbaycorp.com

what on earth is a schwatza? sounds to me as if you are spurring some sort of slurs?

schwatza....might be a weak attempt at humor. Shvartza, which is Yiddish for black, a word used to describe African Americans. In literal translation, it means black..it isn't a slur

Yeah... I don't like the sound of it though... I don't like the sound.

She said he saw a schwatza beating up an old black lady, which means he is making some sort of distinction between a regular Black person and a Schwartza.... he's entering a slippery slope

And then for him to quote me and refer to me directly with this? Seeing that I am Black? It's tacky.

Thank you. At least I'm not going to spray paint a rock red and call it a ROSE! The man was being rude on SO many levels. ONE for using the word 'Black' in a different language, and going on and on about it. Imagine if I started calling him OLD in a different language, a language he doenst understand... but he's a troll anyway... look at how he never resurfaced in the conversation. To heck with him. I hope a Schwatza finds him.

Oh the worst part about it is the ignoramus couldn't even SPELL The word correctly which means he probably doesnt even know how to use it. Probably just something he heard, and had the nerve to repeat

Mr Bill, the reason for all the "loops" in Co-op City is twofold:
* It maximizes the available space to build on
* Children, seniors & the infirm can traverse Co-
op City without ever having to cross a single
street ((except to get to Section 5)

I agree w/CaribAmerican Queen - parking is bleh. Really, really bleh. I live in Section 5, and since I have no parking(I was allowed to park in the garage 8 after they closed the greenway lot, until my pass expired on 10/4)- I have to rush home at 4:30, 5:00ish to make sure I get a spot, usually a half mile(near the 95 south entrance off of Erskine) from my building. It's crap, if you ask me, and Riverbay refuses to acknowledge that they need to remedy the situation. Sofar, since 10/5, I have two tickets, for $60.. both times I drove around for an hour before I gave up and parked illegally at the basketball court side of Erskine.

Other than that, it's great. Rent is cheap, and the maint. folks are pretty quick and work well. Someone mentioned that they shut the AC off on 9/30, which is true, and stunk because we had a hot week and a half there, but it wasn't that bad.

Other than this irritating parking situation, I love Section 5. The C-Town isn't as big or clean as Pathmark, but it's FAR from dirty. I don't mind shopping there. Section 5 Pizza is some of the best around(better than anything in 1-4, despite what others say haha IMHO), and I have never felt uncomfortable in the entire 4 months I've been here.

I moved in on 10/16/2007, and so far I have no problem but parking. It is really crowded by the supermarket, there are alot of gangs there but thank god i dont live next to the supermarket. I live on Erskine Place which seems pretty much quieter than the rest of section 5. I've always been the type of person that mind my own business, therefore i don't worry about the peopl around me. I see people but yet still i don't see them, if you know what i mean.
