Sounds good to me. If it is as good as medicare it is a ggod deal for the people. Seems as if the insurance companies just do not like competion from this propsed health plan. As many as 18000 to 22000 people die each year from lack of medical care= cause no insurance coverage and unaffordable for them. How many of you can afford a health insurance policy?? these numbers came from FEDERAL CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF MEDINCE AND the URBAN INSTITUTE. As for Sara Palins allegations of a DEATH PANEL I believe she can be excused for her uninformed opinion because I believe she may have been abducted by space alliens at that time and was disoriented. As for Roy Blount ,senator of Missouri, He made a remard that at age 59 hewas to old to get a hip replacement in either Canada or Great Britain if he broke his hip . I believe he is a little bit misinformed because it is at about that age and older that the elderly have broken hips replaced . This fact was found at Politifact/ sorting out the truth in politics.

another fact is; the LEWIN GROUP,is ABSOLUTELY OWNED BY ONE OF THE LARGEST HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES IN THE COUNTRY. Republican elected officials have been using them as a reference for speeches on the floor. their facts are not always right. There are no death panels as stated by Sara Palin, the ex governor of Alaska. And the counseling in the health bill is voluntery and is advise given for such things as living wills and medical info if needed for patients in need of end of life counseling. Folks they are not going to be killing old granny or the sick and ill patient. Someone would end up in jail for committing a crime. want to go to jail. Sara palin just needs a dose of truth serum.

Ladies on health care, just be a pregnant woman and try to get a health care policy from your friendly insurance company; they will turn you down in a NEW YORK MINUTE.--REASON, YOU HAVE A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION CALLED PREGANCY!!

tHERE IS ONE THING THOSE GIANT INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE NOT telling you; the reason they are against this health insurance program= ANSWER IS,, COMPETION, AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE BETTER POLICIES SO THEY COULD COMPETE AGAINST THE GOVERMENT HEALTH PLAN, ALSO THE PRICE WOULD COME DOWN. jUST THINK IF YOU LOOSE YOUR JOB OR FIND ANOTHER JOB YOU DON'T LOOSE YOUR INSURANCE WITH THE GOVERMENT POLICY- IT GOES WITH YOU. Now ask yourself, how many people in your family or friends do not have or can afford that private insurance policy-- to high ain't it! yep thought so. Just think, if the goverment plan goes through how much better that insurance company will treat you to keep you as a customer. Competition is great, but those private insurance companies do not want any competition.

According to the Census Bureau, of the 46 million Americans who are uninsured:
• 10.1 million are individuals who have income of at least $66,000 for a family of four, but who elect to remain uninsured.
• 9.3 million are non-citizens who generally do not pay tax.
• 6.4 million who are enrolled in Medicaid or S-CHIP but reported to the Census taker that they were not.(This phenomenon is known among statisticians as the Medicaid undercount.)
• 4.3 million are eligible for Medicaid or S-CHIP but have not enrolled.
• 5 million are childless adults, mainly healthy, young adults who simply do not wish to pay for insurance.
In short: Most uninsured Americans are uninsured by choice, not by circumstance. Myths such as these confuse and frustrate Americans who simply want the best for their country.

It is hard to know what is exactly in the proposed health care bill because of it being over 1,000 pages and almost every paragraph refers you to some other paragraph or document. I don't think anyone knows what is in it. But on the subject of death panels, please tell me why Obama felt the need to have Ezekiel Emanuel (brother to Rahm Emanuel) to do a study and create a document to describe four ways to ration health care. It designates one of the ways as the best. It places a value on life according to age. Infants and young children – no value, disabled and handicapped – no value, age 60 and over no value unless they are important and contributing to society (this exempts those in Washington). What do you suppose Obama plans to do with this information? Will it be used in conjuction with the health care reform bill? It is deep reading but you might want to go to this link and read it. Here is the link: http://www.ncpa.org/pdfs/PIIS0140673609601379...

The insurance companies will be required to match Obamacare. What you can't seem to understand is that will put the majority of them out of business. At that point there will be NO competition and that is always a bad thing.

Surely you are smarter than you appear when you make such a statement as this. Let's say you own an insurance company and I have a car that has been a lemon since the day I bought it. I take the car to a secluded country road and set it on fire. I then drive to your insurance office and have you write a policy for me on my car. I then tell you that I want to file a claim because my car burned. Or maybe it was my house that had some problems because I did not keep it maintained and I get you to write a policy on my house the day after it burned to the ground. I bet you would be happy to accomodate.

You are probably right about not killing granny. What they will do is not allow the treatment that she needs and she will quickly die a natural death that could have been prevented with treatment. See post #6. So you see Obama is not lying. He is just doing his play on words. There is a difference in killiing someone and just letting them die from neglect. You need to listen carefully to what Obama says.

How does the Obama administration plan to pay for Obamacare? Will it be run as efficiently as Social Security, the Post Office, Medicare, government contracts, the Veterans Administration and everything else that the government touches that turns to manure? How much will it cost a person each month to receive Obamacare? Just some simple questions that I have not seen discussed.

Republican get your head on straight. and think, there would be an uprising of the people enmass, including me. Did you know that UNITED HEALTH CARE bought the only two companies that are used to give the percentages you as a policy hold will pay for out of pocket expensesand they are trying in congress to get those percentages raised to a 35 percent for thier shareso as to have more profit. In othr words you will be paying 35 percent instead of 30 percent. In the STATE OF NEW YORK an insurance company was charged for over charging their policy holders by millions and paid a fine instead of going to court. That theft might have been coming out of your pocket.

In a free trade and competitive economy a person can move to another company if they do not like what they are being charged. That is exactly what I would do. When the government takes over health care there will be no competition. We will no longer have a choice to move to another company when the price gets too high. Is that what you want? I don't have my insurance with United Health Care but if I did and they raised their premium 35% I would change to another company. Why is United Health Care having to ask congress if they can raise their rates. I never heard of that before. If they want to raise their rate why don't they just do it? If a company in New York was charged for over charging their customers then that shows our laws are working and that is the way it should be done, not with a government takeover.

Mde a killing. and the consumer got nothing, and they were the ones being charged for the electricity.

I suppose if you look hard enough you will find fraud in just about anything. I appoint you as a committee of one to start the process to have the above referenced decision reversed and the company punished. After all it is up the the citizens to watch for such problems and to insist that they are dealt with. I have not heard of the injustice that you mention. Just wondering where you got your information.

Are you against free trade and competition? Your posts seem to suggest that. Do you feel that we would be a better country if every thing should be controlled by the government?

well citizen about the electricity, I saw that in the paper. the state regulators knew about the incident. they are the ones that had the electrical producer pay the provider of electricty the above cost for with holding from the provider till the last minute, thus driving up the bid on cost. the customer who paid for their electricity got nothing ecept the overcharges.

I finally found another source where the righties are getting their info and scaring the old folks half to death. like making believe there are death panels that are going to end their lives. Well I have news for you out there in TOPIX LAND, WE ALL HAVE AN UNWRITTEN CONTRACT FROM THE TIME OF BIRTH THAT DEATH IS GOING TO CLAIM US ALL AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER. bUT THERE IS NO DEATH PANELS TO MAKE A DECISION TO KILL ANYONE. aND THE GOVERMENT DOES NOT MAKE ANY END OF LIFE DECISION FOR A PERSON. AND HOW MANY OF YOU out there in topix land has a living will. You probably had a discussion with someone about this subject. Like as to whethe of not you want to remain on life support or not after being declared brain dead or you the patient is dying of cancer or another desease- you know that permaent thing we are all aquainted with, called death. How many funerals have you attended ? How many of you have made the decision to have a living will or are you going to leave that up to your wife or other family members to rmember and burden them for the rest of their lives. That is a hard choice for a loved one to make! yep, even though you are already passed away and declared deceased.

Republican, our causalties are now 4340 in Irag with WIA (wounded in action) is 31,483. In afghanistan our losses are increasing and it looks like August will be worse than July. Our causalties are 803 Americans K.I.A. and 3,7222 Wounded in action. And it looks as if our citizens are also getting fed up with that war also. They are beginning to feel like it aint worth it any more and want out. Is that not the way it began in Vietnam, Irag, and now Afghanistan. Bad news for the politicians.

You have it all wrong. Listen to Obama carefully when he speaks. He said nobody was going to pull the plug on grandma. That is a half-truth and old people are smart enough to see through it. What his health care plan is designed to do is to ration coverage to certain groups of people - the very young, the disabled, the handicapped and the edlerly, elderly being starting at 50 and at full throttle by 60. In other words you cannot get treatment for certain conditions and will have a death sentence where otherwise you could get surgery or take medication and have a productive and usefull life for several more years. It is true that death is a certainty but since medical science has the means to help us live longer why not use it.

Republican, the only rationing being done these days is by health insurance conglonerates. they are the ones rationing health insurance, no goverment--so far I have not heard of anyone that has medicare say their health care has been rationed. Just have insurance with a private insurance company, then get sich and possibly be cut off, one of their tactics is to say you had a precondition before they insured you. No more insurance. Have a cancer operation and see if you can get insurance from an insurance company; bet you wont. unless your family gets it from where you work at. I have kin that will not quit her job due to the fact she has insurance through her company , but if she went to another company her daughter is uninsurable because of her heallth needs if she goes to work for another company. Now who is rationing health care- It is already being rationed.
