I posted this in the willilla forums, but it looks like its not visited often.
Is this park private or for everybody?Almost every time I have drove by the gates are closed. The sign says community park so i would think its open to everyone right?
Anybody know?

I think it is operated by the Quail Homemakers. Not sure though. I believe you have to book it through them.

Yeah we used to have our family picnics there you have to book them and I think that you have to pay as well.

I tried to book this park over the summer for a family reunion and could NOT get them to return a phone call. The homemakers received a grant for this park to be used as a community thing but it clearly is NOT. It is mainly a family wanting to run it as they see fit and if you don't meet their standards then you can;t come in. Typical Rockcastle County especially Brodhead.

The Quail Homemakers Club does the upkeep on the park and it is a community park; however, the reason the gate is kept locked is mainly because of so many "hoodlums" that have went to the park and turned the water on and left it running causing an extremely large water bill on more than one occasion. The use of the shelter is by donation only. The rental on the community center building is $25.00 per hour or $150.00 for all day. The park including the building are county owned. So everyone quit whining - try finding someplace else in the county that is free or costs less. Just be thankful you have someplace as nice as Quail Park.

I took my kids there to play & was asked to leave b/c they wanted some sort of donation. They need to take community park down n put private up. the couple that run this park are only in it to get money from you!!!
Yeah it stays nice when hardley anyones allowed to go there... go figure!!!

the name community park is just a front for what goes on behind those locked gates.having sneaked in from the back on several occasions,i know first hand what goes on there and why they keep the gates locked.

I have lived in community all my life and park was owned by Brown family. I think now it's over seen by quail h. makers. Facility can be rented at cost of $25/hr up to $100, or $150 all day. Money goes for up keep. It is locked up to keep thieves and vandals out.

We recently rented Quail Community Park for a family reunion. We are living in NC and had no choice but to go on hope that the building would be adequate for our gathering. We found the building and the grounds to be absolutely perfect. All in attendance hope to be able to gather together again next year at the park.
Mrs. Virginia Hansel was a doll to work with - very kind, gracious and helpful.
I hope you local folks appreciate what a wonderful park you have at your disposal and anyone passing through take a few moments to enjoy the beauty of the area.
