Does anyone know what happened to the Silver Creek student that passed yesterday? Anyone know who it is? My heart goes out to the family and friends of the student.

please know that the child did not die of swine flu, but complications from ongoing childhood illness. It is very sad and the family and community are devastated.

Not to scare you - but -
When a child has fever and neckaches, you really need to get them to the Doctor. It may be just lymph nodes enlarged, but it could be something more serious. Please take this seriously.

Leukemia, I'd heard. Why is everyone so afraid to say it, like it's a dirty word? My goodness, as a family member of someone who survived for quite some time with the disease, it would be good to increase awareness and/or encourage funding for research. If the name is whispered, as though it's a "secret," it only increases the negative power of the word. It's a terrible, terrible tragedy, but let's make something positive come of the tragedy. No need to whisper as if we're ashamed or afraid of the disease.

Wondering why the media has been running this so much? I feel badly for the little girl's family, but why the weird secrecy and whispering? The only reason people are gossiping about this is because it's being so public, yet so secret. Why keep putting it out there? At least put people's minds at ease and come out and say - it wasn't anything contagious. You're all safe. People are really paranoid now with all the sickness going around.

So so sorry to hear this story. My prayers for all. This is never easy, may her parents find some peace and comfort from having had the time they did share together.

I work at Lakeshore hospital and was working when the code blue came in - all of you can speculate all you want but to date the cause of death is still undetermined. I have talked to Warren Riles (coroner) on several occasions since Kaitlin's death and still no cause of death has been found. If and when the cause is determined and if it affects the public in any way that information will be released.

Did they do an autopsy? If there is no cause of death found shouldnt a police investigation be conducted. I am not being smart here, I am very curious, how can they Not find a cause. I hope they do, I feel so sad for the family.

Hey - thanks. Most helpful thing anyone has posted. I don't consider it any of my business unless there's a public health issue. That was my only concern. Also thought it was strange that it was such a big deal in the media with no explanation. Children pass away without all the media hoopla, so figured there must be something unusual going on - perhaps something that they didn't want to release for fear of causing a panic.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Cancer

You feel the urge to move onward, powered by your wisdom: when you're right, you're right. You may feel that any further explanation is unnecessary, but the people you're dealing with might need it spelled out for them. Take the time to draw a picture or use smaller vocabulary words to get your point across, Cancer. A public demonstration will probably prove to be the last word on the subject.
