Toyota Resale Values Go Down Again
With problems from floor mats, to gas pedals and now brakes, it shouldn't be a surprise that Toyota resale values are going down.

No kidding! But, I like my Corolla. It's comfortable, I get 31 mpg going up and down two large hills getting to and from town, I like its looks (it's red, for goodness sake!) and it has room enough for me (I'm 6'1") and lots of room in the trunk.
Toyota seems to have skated on its reputation for a long time, and getting too big too fast has bitten them. Unfortunately, it has bitten families who have lost loved ones in a Toyota because of some sort of defect.
I have the urge to trade my Corolla in on a Hyundai or Ford, but I'm going to school and haven't the means (or the inclination) to take a hit on the trade-in price. There is no alternative for me but to have the pedal "upgraded" and ride this out until another time.

I don't have a problem with trade in value, I drive a 2002 Grand Prix GT and it gets 34 MPG if I don't horse it around all the time and drive sensible. I have never owned a newer foreign car, I did have a Jag way back when they were XJ coupes and V-12's and I also had an MG 4 banger 4 speed that got great mileage. I don't owe anything on this GP and it doesn't handle all that well in the snow so I put it up for the winter and drive a $100 winter-beater as always.. The GP has just over 24,000 miles on it and no rust at all.. The trade in value will be less than the dealers wanna give me but I really don't need to trade it in anyway, Toyota sucks lately and it is still a foreign car as all the profits made go back to Japanland.. I'd never have a Hyundai or a Ford in my garage anyway.. Nor a Mopar unless it was a '63 Dodge 426 HEMI.
USA ALL THE WAY!!
BTW, The GP vin starts with a 1!!

Yeah, my wife and I liked our 2009 Toyota Corolla LE a lot too. It was even made in Japan with the VIN# JTDBL until all four wheels jumped a curb as she was pulling into a doc's appt. Thank God it stopped. We immediately traded it in on Jan. 24. We had it for 20 months (paid off) and it had 12,787 miles on it. We got $13,350 for the trade in value for a Honda 2010 Civic LX, which was more than the Kelly Blue Book value.
When I had taken it in to the dealer on Jan. 23 (made an appt) they said "nothing wrong, we did a diagnostic check on it with the machine and it all came back with zeros, which is good." I'm thinking "Yeah Right" and we traded it in. The Thursday or Friday before on NBC news they said there was a recall on Toyota Corolla 2009. We had no floor mat in the car and a stuck accellerator while pulling into a parking space doesn't sell me. I knew it was something more serious and traded it in while the time was right.
I hope you don't have to experience what my wife went through and wish you luck.
