Theatergoers have much to look forward to in the coming months as shuttered theaters prepare to launch new productions. Good thing too, this week's gross for the nineteen productions currently on the Great White Way was down to $15,811,625, a drop from last week's gross of $16,940,465. However, that's a sight better than the same week last season when the gross was only $14,286,956. The season's box office total has racked up $290,882,984 so far, compared to $299,524,632 last season.

Five productions scored a million or better this week in this order: Wicked at the Gershwin, Billy Elliot at the Imperial, The Lion King at the Minskoff, Jersey Boys at the August Wilson and West Side Story at the Palace.

Overall attendance figures are a shade below 90 percent this week. Individually, just five productions report audiences of 95 percent or better. The lone special on Broadway, Burn the Floor at the Longacre, reported the smallest audiences at 69 percent.

As the summer season ended, so ended "9 to 5" at the Marquis which went out on a high note on the September 6. It reported the largest increase of any production in dollar figures over the previous week of $110,347 and attendance too, 23 percent over the previous week.
