moving man extraordinaire

Imagine a grown man with a remote control device in his hands. Now think of that man using the remote to gently guide a 400-ton, three-brick-thick, dinosaur of a building through downtown Akron. Full Story

The good news is, that downtown Akron has plenty of folks who are unemployed who have the time to watch the movin' of the house.

Still no mention of where the city hall hero is holdin' his party for the event. How can any-buddy go tip a few with him to congratulate him on all of the taxpayer monies he's spent on this project.

I'm sure he's countin' on ever-buddy forgetin' that he wanted to raise taxes not too long ago, because he said the city was broke.

I took a look at this building the other day, the facing is off the exterior of the Brick. What next, replace the brick or vinyl siding, remember vinyl is final.

Donny waste so much money it boggles the min d.

Hopefully they wont hit any of those famous potholes that we have here. They could have rebuilt the house for alot less money and not tie up downtown traffic for 12 hours or longer when they realize that the roads they are going down are just about as old. 400 hundred tons is alot of weight to be moving anyone think the road will hold up under all that weight we have roads caving in everywhere else in this city and who is going to direct the traffic since are great mayor is firing all the police officers when ever he gets a bug up his ass. Smart move Donny Boy be there with my video camara to watch the house and road give way, but thats ok taxpayers will pay for it anyways. Have a good day

You are exactly right Chas626 it ought to be quite a show when the house and road fall apart Donny Boy strikes again with one of his money saving projects haha. It might be worth the trouble to put up a dunking booth to raise money if Donny Boy would volunteer to sit up there with the fluids come from the waste management plant that he wants to sell Ive got the first $5.00 to donate.

Also, it is nice of them to do it on Monday when everyone is downtown working. As if the perpetual construction does not screw up traffic enough.

Mebbe they could have done it on Sunday? When nobody is downtown?

Oh, BTW..."And that is what will happen Monday, the day of the most anticipated Akron move since LeBron James first tore down the basketball court in a Cavs uniform." Double-ewe-tee-eff!

Personally, I thought the whole "Goodyear stickin' around" thing was better, but what do I know.

nice picture.

I would be smiling too. If I got a cut of the 784k to move a building...

Cool, but crazy, what a waste of money! As I consider selling my house & renting because I can't afford gas, groceries & my property taxes anymore not to mention the fear of my heating bill this winter.

FunFact #1. Actually this is not the first move for the house. When the Howe's crazy uncle Winford Howe and his girfriend Lakisha 'Hoopie' James conjured up a brew of turpentine and MadDog the house blew 500 feet off its foundation.
