Unions out for themselves

Broadalbin taxpayers need to stand together. The Broadalbin-Perth Teachers Association is standing firm, not offering us an ethical pay freeze again this year.

Unions have been running businesses out for years, they are crippling the state budget wise. Why doesn't the goverment do anything? They are paid off by the union to vote thier way. Lobbyest!! Unions are a leagle mofia.
show me a politician that likes unions and I'll show you a corupt politician.
People the budget is just that, the payroll in any budget is the biggest part. Why do teachers get sick time and personnel time? They have every other week off and two months in the summer but get paid double the salery of the average man working the whole year. This extra paid time is costing us for subs and those teachers at the same time. Most don't use it but let it accure. Screw that. Get tough with the unions and do what needs to be done. let Winsconsin take over!!!

I agree with the above poster. Why are teachers allowed so much vacation/sick/whatever time? We pay double then, for their day off, plus the sub's pay, which is what? a hundred a day or a little less? and add up how many subs are called in per day in our district?? Plus, the teachers get extra pay for coaching, or "heading" clubs or extracurricular activities of any kind. Don't include any money in the budget for that, parents volunteer , always, for free! What right do teachers have to get money for these activities? I remember teachers coaching for FREE as a child in another school district. Since when do teachers need yet more money for what a parent would gladly do for free?? Plus, the teachers' unions always make sure a hefty salary increase is included. For what? Poor teaching, too many days off, and our students, let's face it, are not that great scholastically, due to the lack of great programs/great teaching. My kids went through B-P, can tell you how many truly great teachers they had, can count on one hand, and have several fingers left,...sad, but true. Not impressed with the administration, very greedy, teachers, also greedy, don't even want to pay for health care, hey, wake up!! Everyone else has to, suck it up, you overpaid leeches on the taxpayers' behinds. Sorry, had to get that out, truly awful how the teachers did NOT want to freeze pay or give up ANYTHING. Guess they don't understand what a true budget is. Moving in a year, out of here; nothing for us left in NYS, too costly. B-P is heading down a dark, ugly, and costly road.
