In my opinion doctors in the area are horrible. My aunt died 2 weeks ago at Bristol Regional Medical center. She was 71 years old. Had been a smoker since her late teens. Her lungs were practically gone. But what killed her was a colon infection. What angers me is 2 months before her death she was hospitalized and put on a ventilator. The doctor said we should let her die with dignity and they said she was old and it was her time. They did not want to help her because she was not younger. Guess what she made it! We had to beg the arrogant doctor to keep trying to help her. You would have had to be there to understand. 71 is getting older but it's not 90. I also have has bad experiences with doctors. I have a proble with my throat and the ent's in this area were of no help and acted like I was bothering them. They would not listen and I had to go to an ent in Asheville North Carolina. He was great and professional. Asheville is beautiful and cultured so different from here! I lived in Richmond Virginia and moved here to be closer to my parents who moved here. I now want to live in Asheville. I can't believe Asheville is relatively close to this area. It's a world away!

i had a bad experience at the ER a few weeks ago. The Dr. acted like he was too busy to listen to a word i said. he would ask me a question and then answer it himself.
it was my first and last trip the that ER. i actually have never had to go to the ER before in my life and i am over 40 years old. i told my husband if he ever has to take me again to drive right past bristol and go on to indian path in kingsport. i was down there a few months ago with my niece when she had her baby and those people went above and beyond.

i do have to say the nurse was the best part of the visit at bristol. the only problem was all the other nurses kept popping into my room to get him to do things for them. i think his name was travis. he needs a huge raise!! the drs and other nurses could take some lessons from him.

When I read your'e story I just had to post. My family had the same experience, but I wont tell you what hospital in the tri-cities it was because I'm sure there are good doctors and nurses that work there. My grandmother was 72 and got bad pneumonia. She was admitted to the hospital and the doctor there was a young doctor. He looked 30 tops. My grandma was in good health for her age until the pneumonia. She excercised, played with her grandkids, shopped til' she dropped & so on. She was not a typical 72 year old woman. Have never smoked in her life. The arrogant doctor came in at 4am and told the family we needed to let her die with dignity cause she was old. My grandma looks 60 instead of 72 by the way. We said no and begged him to help her. He acted like anyone over 70 deserved to die! I agree with you a person in their early 70's is not 90. Especially with today's medical technology. Well guess what! At 7am that morning she was out of danger! That doctor should have been fired. He wanted to pull the plug. My grandma is now 74 and will be 75 in october. She has some mild arthritis but that's it. She loves to garden and be active and she never ever will go to that hospital again. I am sorry about your'e aunt. Have a good day.

I have to say my experiences there have been great. The nurses are wonderful and will do anything for you but the doctor's are not as understanding. Don't blame the nurse's for what goes on because it is a stressful place to work I would think. I would not do it. I would not listen to people whining and whimpering all day. That would have to get old. THANKS TO ALL THE ER NURSE'S AT BRMC EMERGENCY DEPT.

But just remember that the nurses picked their career and get paid big bucks. They were not forced into nursing, they chose it knowing that they would be caring for ill people who do complain about their aches and pains. If it gets old, find a new career. I think some of the nurses are over paid and lazy and uncaring. I am not saying it about all the nurses but I have seen some pretty horrible nurses at Bristol.

I am not a nurse but I do think it would be hard taking care of people. If u r such a great RN then wear it out. Maybe they need people like you. I dont know what you get paid but caring for the ill is different than the BS stuff they see. I know how people act ridiculous because i have been in the room next to them. They are not making the BIG BUCK I'm sure. It would take alot of money to put up with that crap and I'm sure its not enough.

Starting pay is close to 25.00 per hour! I wish I made that after being on my job for 20 years I still do not make that a hour. So they get paid well to put up with BS as you call it and caring for the ill since that is their job and that is what they trained for a couple years to do. They did not train to be a RN to make big bucks and sit around and eat bon bons and shoot the breeze.

I am an RN. Nursing is a very hard and thankless job. There are good and bad just like any other profession. Please don't judge us all by what you see in a few of us. Some of us really do care and try very hard to take care of our patients.

I would like to know where starting pay is $25 for an RN. Maybe if you move away from here, but not in Bristol starting out.

The quality of care has really declined in recent years. I have gone to the same primary care physician for 30 years. Tests that were once done as part of a yearly exam are no longer performed. I have had to request things as basic as a mammagram and a flu shot. Yesterday when I called to make an appointment for a flu shot I was told that the office had no more vaccine and did not expect to receive any more this year.Could the decline in service be the result of my primary insurance being Medicare since my retirement?

Bristol Regional started my sister out at nearly 25.00 per hour straight out of nursing school. Proof is on the check stub. And this was 2 years ago.

I have been a critical care nurse for nearly 11 years and the most I have ever made is $21.95/hr and that was just this past year.

Daily Horoscope for December 12

Aquarius

Ring a friend for a quick chat and you could still be on the phone an hour later, while this person yaks away non-stop with no signs of coming to a halt. It will be the same story if you see someone face to face, because they'll be garrulous in the extreme. Mind you, the same could be said of you, even though you may not be aware that you're hogging the conversational limelight.
