so you have never seen a natural pageant? too bad for you. they are really fun for the girls.
I don't agree with any kind of pagent, especially when it comes to smaller children. You are teaching children from a young age that life is based on nothing but looks. These little girls that are in pagents are the ones that grow up to be snobs and bullies. I have a child myself now and everyone tells me I should put here in pagents. I tell everyone that says anything about it that my childs education, morals, and self-esteem is worth more to me than that. Also there are child-molesters and pedophiles all this does is feed into their fantasy and put these children in danger. So natural pagent or not it is still child-abuse. Why do you think Jonbenet Ramsey was taken and murdered?

Actually pageants teach girls a lot of things my daughter does pageants and she is the sweetest little girl. She is only 2 and claps for EVERY girl who wins. She speaks very well because she is around older girls. If you were to put a 2 year old around my daughter you would see how much better she behaves and speaks compared to a child that is not in pageants. The point im making is that you can not form an opinion on something you have no idea about. Pageants are no worse than a boy playing football or baseball atleast pageants don't put any actual harm towards the girls

snobs and bullies?!! judge much?
i'm glad my girls were in pageants from the time they were about a year old. they learned a lot. they are good sports. very well educated. they are not afraid to speak in front of a crowd. and they are NOT judgemental!!
perverts kidnap and kill children all the time. yes it is an awful thing. i have to ask you why do you and the other haters always bring up jon benet? thats ONE pageant princess out of how many kids that have been murdered? but all you all want to do is bring up JBR. come on now!! BTW jon benet was NOT taken.
pageants are NOT abuse.

looks like people would rather put their kids in contact sports where they can be injured!

No where in my comment did I say I or my child is better than anyone. I pointed out the fact that she claps for everyone no matter who wins. What I said was how much she has learned from being involved in pageants meaning speaking very well and how behaved she is.

"... If you were to put a 2 year old around my daughter you would see how much better she behaves and speaks compared to a child that is not in pageants" <- I think this is where you said your snowflake is better than others.

"Pageants ... don't put any actual harm towards the girls"
They just reduce their self image and self worth to believe the only thing they can offer to society is a pretty face. I wonder how many proponents of pageants are also the ones who shout for equality and get offended if a guy notices your breasts or how attractive another woman is. All that work in the 60's and 70's and there are still women who want to be ranked as useful as long as their looks hold out.

My daughter is two and has an awesome vocabulary and speaks very clearly. A child dosen't have to be in pagents to be smart, now your just pulling stuff our of your butt. Young girls are over-sexualized in modern society. A two-year old is too young to make the decision to be in a pagent herself, how do you know if she wants to participate? At that young of an age pagents are more for the moms who are living through their children then for the child itself. I know no matter what I say or do this is still going to go on. My personal opininion is that it is not right, however you are entitled to your own opinion as well.

I had entered 2 of my girls in pageants when they were young, one was about 10 months and the other one was around 2-3. My children were no better than children that were not in pageants. Both of my girls won throphies and ribbons and 1st place more than one time. I only did it a few times when I decided that was not the lifestyle I wanted for my girls. I want my girls to be natural beauties and not going around stuck up and made up and having a big head that they were better than other children. My girls have grown up and exceeded very well, honor roll throughout school, one in the military and the other a professional as well. My other children I did not bother with, why waste my time and my kids time with nonsense. Let them be kids and as for the lady who said she knows someone who starves their child to keep her skinny, shame on her, she should be turned in to social services.

There are pageants that are just natural pageants which are judged on NATURAL beauty no make no tanning etc..I do not feel that pageants cause girls to lose self image or anything like that incase you don't know there are football players and pretty much every sport where they have certain things they need/have to do to be able to maintain their bodies mucles etc so it really itsn't much different! As for the person saying how do I judge to see if my daughter wants to do a pageant I ASK HER if she says "no" we do not go and I probably already know your rolling your eyes and saying yeah whatever but it is true if she says no she doesn't want to do a pageant and if she doesn't want to practice then we do not go. And I can assure you I do not live thru my daughter she is her own tiny person and if she didn't go on stage and be happy and excited about being up there I wouldn't do them with her. I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinion but your being so judgmental for no reason I get that pageants aren't something you agree with or anything of the nature.

I still say a 2 year old isn't capable of making their own decisions. They are also judged by their looks in natural pagents. The reason why i'm so judgemental is bc i've watched like girls scream and cry getting ready for these things. A child that is screaming and crying obviously dosen't want to do something. What is your little girl supposed to do when she is older and her looks start going? Beauty won't get her anywhere then, working with your child, and educating them is more important than pagents. Pedophiles and sex offenders come out and watch these pagents. I watched this thing on Dateline the pagent was in Abingdon VA. Seven different men there were on the Sex Offender Registry bc of something they had done to girls under 6. They were sitting in the audience watching those little girls. Children shouldn't be put in danger like that.

You are right it is everywhere. However children in sports are not wearing make-up and fancy dresses, looking like 30-year old midgets. Just face it today's society is a hyper-sexual society. Pagents are feeding on these pedos fantasies. On the same show I mentioned they did go to sports functions, pagents, and popular parks in different states. In all 10 of the states they visited the highest concentration of these men and women praying on young children were at pagents.
