Nothing has happened yet. But I believe they have to give the people who live there one year to move. So I'm guessing that's why nothing has started. I don't understand why it's been so hush-hush on who's moving in there.

JCP and Belk leaving the mall....so much for that property. Lowes relocating? What will they do with that big, empty building? We have enough empty buildings around here...it's going to look trashy.

My thoughts exactly. I thought this was supposed to be for more shopping. Not just the same things that we already have.

That's happening all over. Big box leaves huge empty building as govt gives incentives for them to build new, bigger building. More small businesses get swallowed up and close since they can't compete. And we call it progress.

Well it's been a while and so far all we keep hearing about is Cabela's coming to the Falls Project at Exit 5. Has anybody heard anything more on potential stores, including the second large anchor? Supposely there will be two large Anchor's and Cabela's is one but I'm wondering who the second will be and if the center is close to landing one or announcing one.

Jcpenney isnt going anywhere. My daughter works there. They just found out about Belk like everyone else (on the news). I hope their corporate people look at it though. Staying in that pathetic mall is not a good move

Yes, it has not been announced yet but according to people working at Lowes they are relocating. Do not know why it is yet to be announced.

Lowe's had not been announced yet but it's pretty much confirmed. Look for them to announce it in a few weeks or so.

Maybe if Lowes gets a new store they will get new employees. 95% of the time you can't get anyone to help you, they run and hide when they see you coming. Home Depot is even worse. These home improvement stores need much improvement themselves.

I agree with you. They act like you are bothering them at times. There is a handful that will help but for the most part, they are useless.

Keep supporting big box retailers and restaurants and this is what you get. Shop the locally owned stores and get real service and quality.

I agree with this and by the way all Lowe's I've ever been in it's hard to find an employee and get help. That being said we don't really have hardly any local hardware/home stores in the area. We had a couple in Kingsport but they are gone. I have to say I never really shopped at those local hardware stores either because they were twice as expensive. I don't usually need help and even if I have to wait a while at Lowe's it's still worth it to me to pay half as much. Sorry but we live in a cost driven economy and the fact is big chains can usually give us the lowest costs. They have the largest buying power and therefor get lower prices.

But once they close the mom and pops, the big boxers can charge what tey want and suck most of the money right out of our community, sending it to corporate hq. So who really pays? US!

What's the deal with jcpenney? Are they leaving or not? Anyone close to the project have insight? I doubt the employees would know until the last minute anyway

Tell me where a locally owned hardware store is that carries most everything that your bix box retailer sells and I will happily shop it. I do not know of one in the tri cities area. I was in Lowes yesterday and on Mothers Day weekend they had one register open in the garden center with customers backed up as far as I could see and there were absolutely no Lowes employees around anywhere to help, the only people I seen working were the vendors and most of them are more helpful than the Lowes associates. Lowes people are rude and hard to find.
