Bristol is vile!

I am of the position that everything geographically south of about exit 10 on I-81 should be set ablaze. Gasp--but that retail hell you call "Exit 7" is in the way, you exclaim!!! Not to mention the Mall!! Bristol really consists of a bunch of Grundy transplants who think they've made the big time. Let me illustrate: They drive Hummers or P.o.n.t.i.a.c.s and wear clothing they they think is high-end with huge logos (to remind us), but they are STILL simply human trash who don't have any conception of the world beyond the borders of that aforementioned hellhole.... Your thoughts on this phenomenon?

I believe we should live this way: Take care of you and yours... be kind to those that deserve it... and obey the ten commandments. It's really rather simple when you think about it.
Unfortunately in today's society there are countless people that have lost their morals, ethics and just plain common decency.

John, you want to see a hellhole? Take a trip to NYC, LA, Atlanta. Go to the theatre with the fine cultured citizens of those cities, look at their pretty, neon lit facades, walk into the bars there, oh some of the people will be wearing Abercrombie or Hollister, but most will be wearing clothes so expensive the purchase cost could feed a third world country.

Guess what? You'll be treated like trash, cussed at, nobody will stop to help you, and if they do it will only be because they want to rob you. Get off the main drag, and you'll likely come away with a second smile cause your chances of getting your throat slit will increase exponentially.

I'll take Hickville USA over a big city anyday. I have no desire to pay $200 for a meal for two people. I could care less about watching some woman sit in the nude and talk about her hoo-hoo for two hours and call it art. I don't like being surrounded by people who can only express themselves by dressing like Chris Angel and making everyone around them feel uncomfortable. I'd just as soon spend $20 at Bella's as $50 at some NYC Pizzaria where you eat your pie with some wise guy.

If you like that lifestyle head for NYC. I'll stay here with the rest of the hicks and not have to worry about some junkie walking up to me on the street and stabbing me for $10.

It's a little sickening to read this forum. Mainly, because the people throwing around the name 'hillbilly' are from the same area, and still do not know the definition of the word.
I'm sure that no one is begging you to stay in this area, and probably are crossing their fingers that you leave!! I'm sure that you miss all the crime that those bigger cities you are used to has, and prostitutes on every corner, not to mention the lack of decency that you and people like you have.
People in this area generally do not go around stealing people's purses, robbing every business in the area, and walking around with their nose stuck up their on as*es, therefore it will not be hard to spot you in a crowd!

i could not agree with you more. i just said basically the same thing on another discussion on here. people just have to much time on their hands to be judging others all the time. they really need to be looking at themselves.

Bristol Virginia IS vile. The cops are corrupted criminal crooks with the brains of a peon, the city is getting to where it is filthy and drug and crime infested. It is a joke. Nobody with any common sense would live there. My advice? If you HAVE to go to Bristol I hope it is just to drive through it to get somewhere decent!

I love people like John Chrysostom who complain about what people wear. I also find it extraordinary that instantly everyone in Bristol Virginia are from Grundy, VA. Why do I get the feeling that John from Gate City, like he can talk about others being hillbillies, either has an issue with someone who moved here from Grundy that happens to wear clothing with logos on them, or is just a jealous douche who is pissed because he can't afford to fit in with the mindless consumer whores he is complaining about?

I can understand your points about consumer zombie morons who wear the clothes designer logos on their shirts like it is some kind of status symbol, but this isn't a Bristol phenomenon, it is a nationwide phenomenon. Your logic behind the branding of Grundy transplants being the source of this is illogical and completely misinformed to say the least.

How about you wear what you like and when you get the urge to tell others what they can wear, or want to destroy Bristol and all of it's heathen commercialism, you take two deep breaths and shut the hell up. It's none of your business what these consumer whores wear. If they want to be walking billboards that's their right, no matter how pathetic they are in doing so.

Some of you think Bristol VA-TN is bad. You don't have to drive up there, just go on the Columbus Ohio thread and listen about all the Somalis that pile junk and garbage everywhere, walk and play in the middle of the street, smell bodily, live on welfare, send their money back to Somalia or at least did until they were clamped down on and you all would think you live in heaven. Appreciate Bristol. At least people from Bristol, Abingdon, Grundy, Gate City and all of Southwest Virginia have a common culture. I have friends and kin who live in Ohio but egads I'm glad I am a Virginian. Bristol Virginia is not vile. I'll tell you vile, New York City, Los Angeles, Vegas, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Saigon, a host of other places I have been. Crooked cops. There are crooked cops and good cops everywhere.
