NHC nursing home Bristol,VA

Does anyone know anything about NHC nursing home in Bristol??? I have a family member needing placement soon. Any help will be good. I want to know the GOOD and BAD. Thanks

Horrible health care and horrible administration. They keep a beautiful facility to cover up their lack of care. I have heard they will hire anyone without a background check, even jailbirds...I know that to be a fact.

I will have you know that the redhead "Old bag" as you call her happens to be my mother and she has absolutely nothing but respect for the patients and staff at NHC. She demands the best of care for the residents on 3rd floor.

And stay away you do not know your facts very well. Every employee at NCH has a background check performed and as long as it's not a felony conviction that does not prevent them from being employed. NHC has gone through some administration changed in the past couple years and things have improved there. I would be happy to have any of my family members in the facility and wouldn't think twice about it.

I do know for a fact there is a jailbird there known for abuse. I had a family member there and it was a nightmare. Some nurses took my family members belongings and ate her food the family brought in. Care is awful. I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. I have dealt with them in the past 2 years and every time I hear someone mention they may go there for therapy I suggest they find a better facility. I hope and pray to see its doors be closed one day soon.

Hasn't there been many lawsuits against them? I know of several people who have told me horror stories on the healthcare there. Some of them have happened in the past couple years that you say administration has chabged......hmmmm, go figure!

Google it. you will see they almost lost their license a couple years ago because of a male CNA molesting the residents. Charlotte Wilson lost her LNHA licenses over it because she didn't do anything after it was reported. Look her up also on VDH DHP web site.

There is a nursing home abuse website. Go check out NHC on there. I do not know how they stay in business, I guess money talks. They rip the elderlly off by taking every dime and any property they have and treat them like crap. I have also heard of a lot of horrible things that go on there from abuse to the staff taking the patients belongings. They really need cameras in these places the staff Dr is horrible, one of the worse health care providers in the area. Word gets around on this type of place that is abusive. Too many people complaining can't be wrong.

Words can be as abusive as physical abuse. Everyone should watch what words come out of their mouths. The poor little patients there have feeling too, SO BE NICE!!!! to everyone. Miss Nurse how would you like to be a patient there and your nurse is a grouch and rude to you.

The activities they have for the patients there are great.I have no idea what the food is like. most of the staff we came in contact we super nice and caring. I think the staff doctor is horrible and waits too late to treat things like urinary tract infections. I always felt like he thought that once you are in a facility like this that hospice care was the way to go not medical treatments. I think people became worse when if they were being seen by another doctor would be treated and become ok. I heard patients say that they did not like him and he did not really check them when he visited. If a patient did get sent to the hospital they finally got treated with antibiotics and fluids. I do not think they have the staff to make sure that those needing help with eating and drinking got the help but they tried. I think NHC is far better than Bristol Nursing Home.
