I had a motorcycle accident one year ago yesterday. I broke my leg and my arm. As far as I can remember, I had never taken pain meds in my life. After a few months, the pain was gone and I've tried several times to stop cold turkey. 12 hours after a pain pill, I enter into a hell that I can only endure another 18 hours. I have full medical nsurance through my company and I'm in my mid 40s. It took a motorcycle wreck to get on these, and I'd gladly wreck a motorcycle to get off them, if that would help. There doesn't seem to be an option for me except to taper off of suboxone. Could someone please give me the REAL scoop on what to do? 1) the doctor to see 2) the cost 3) do any of them take BCBS ? 4) How much are the pills and does BCBS cover that? The ANTHEM website says it does. Do you really have to go every week? Why? I travel. How can I go to a doctor every week and maintain a job? From what I've seen, and I'm being honest, it's like they PURPOSELY try to make it impossible to get off this stuff. Sure was a breeze to get on it. I never even asked for a single pain pill. Not one. Anyhow, if you can take 30 seconds to respond I'd appreciate it. This can't go on. A year is enough. Thanks

Suboxone... it works, but I have been trying to taper off of it for a year now. I do work but I have to go every week for my script and a group session. If you go at the right times you can be in and out in about 30 minutes. I have never tried to use my insurance because none of the doctors where I go are in my network so here goes 150.00 the first time you go then 100 per week or you can go every other week but its 200 then. Now I have heard horror stories about the withdrawals of suboxone, but the shelf life of it is about 36 hours versus your 2 or 3 hour with pain pills. The location is on 11w in Bristol Tn. you can find it in the phone book under East Tn. recovery associates. Its worth a try, because if you have a lot of will power and determination you can beat this addiction. I do think a lot of people trade one pill for another but I am in the 5% of the ones that are making it. The medication is paid by some insurances if not its around 8.00 a pill but you can find some discounts at the dr. office if you ask. Take the meds the way they are prescribed and pray a whole lot, just have some faith and you should succeed. Any more questions just ask I will try to answer them for you.

Hey, thanks. I have looked up the pills and my ANTHEM supposedly pays for them, or co pays, or who knows. The whole thing is so confusing, it's no wonder only 5% recover. I guess it ally doesn't matter. I can foot the whole bill with cash, I guess. Who cares. They sure don't seem to. You said it was $8 per pill. How many pills does one take in a week ???? Are the counseling things something that you have to do per the doctor? A the drs office? I was hoping to attend NA ...my biggest concern is the visits. My god, if I can do everything, pay everything, read everything, and adhere to everything....do I have to quit my job just to make the doctors visits? Every week? At what times? I'll be in the tri cities until Wednesday and then in Portland Oregon until Sunday then here until Wednesday and then in Houston. Am I totally expected to see a doctor/pusher every week? Don't say "you have to be willing" would you believe I offered to pay a friend to imprison me until withdrawals subsided. Literally. One last question. If the suboxone thing is too many hoops to jump through , would it be better to taper off the pills. I'm down to 30 mgs of morphine a day. Hell, I don't even know if that's a lot. Anyhow, thanks

I dont know about the morphine, I have never been on that. This is the deal you may find a doctor that will put you on a maintance program, that would be the best thing for you if you travel all the time. Now finding a doctor to do the maintance... I am with you on the pain pills I wish I would have never seen one. There is no way I can work and do the withdrawals so thats why I choose suboxone I am finally feeling normal again after years of pill popping. I go really early on Tues. at 7am so I dont have to go to the meetings if you go any other time you have to sit for a hour long group meeting then wait in line to see the dr. Saturday's are horrible the wait is pretty long unless your there to see the dr. around 6-7am

Oh gosh. I hope I don't lose contact with you and I wish I were able to speak with you via email, but only if your comfortable. So far you've got me started in the right direction, I phoned there today, and the person on the phone, a man, was obvioulsly busy and between his being busy and my not being too sure what to ask, I'm still a bit lost. He told me this and only this IT'S ON MONDAY AT 8 am or TUESDAY at 1. First visit $150 and $100 per week for a month. Each time during the first month, I need to set aside 1-1/2 hours . So i would arrive, go to an hour meeting and then quickly see the doc. After the first month, I could then begin to go every two weeks at $200 per visit. And then I mistakenly got the idea that these were the only times. I honestly couldn't care less about the money. If the costs were ten times the amount, I'd pay it, literally. He said nothing about the Saturday's, but of course I didn't ask. And I've looked online until my eyes are crossed. It's like a huge juggling act. If I could get the actual times, I could start the actual juggle. Know what I mean? I feel like I'm willing to do anything. I'm not in real bad shape. I only take the 30mgs every 24 hours and I've looked online to try to get an idea if that's a lot or not. I've never been here. I don't know. I think it's on the low end, so maybe my suboxone taper off would be slight. I don't mean to be a burden to you in any way, but honestly, I've searched all ver and your the best single source of info I've found. Man it's gets confusing fast when you decide to stop. And see, like you said, you represent the 5% that have made it. Me talking to the other 95% might not be information that I can use. Anyhow, this is very important to me and I'm very appreciative. You've been very helpful. Could I ask for Atleast one more post that explains the days and times. Like I said, he only talked about Monday and Tuesday. I would have went today if I could. Congrats on your success . Keep it up. It's an inspiration to those of us who haven't made that first step yet. I'll be happy to include my email on the next post of you instruct me to and won't if you don't. It'd only be fr purposes of anonymity. Yours, not mine . I'm 100% legal and my company wouldn't fire me for all the rice in China. I'm feeling better about things having made a single phone call today. Thanks again
please help

You can leave me a email address, I am glad you have decided to take the first step. I use to go on Wed. I would get there at 1 and the dr. would start seeing patients at 2, Tues. at 7am they dont tell too many people about that time in fear of having a flood of people, I arrive at 7 and leave around 8-8:25 somewhere around a hour or hour and half. You definitely sound like you are ready, I just got so tired of worrying when and where I was going to get my next fix and paying outrageous prices for pills that people are getting a whole script for 4-10 dollars and selling one freaking pill for 10 its crap... I also started suboxone on the street then found this place and it was so easy to get in and they are very nice folks, now you will run into your usual bull shitters there to, but its kinda of interesting hearing their stories. I am okay talking to you via email just leave it for me thanks I hope you get help fast and I wish you only the best of luck.

God Thanks. Between the two of you, it's the first ray of sunshine I've had in months. What a nightmare. I'm going to look and see if the other person sent an email. Feel free to write there too, of you wish. I'm getting in to see one of them ASAP. My biggest problem , like I said, is time. I'll do the taper thing. I'll do whatever they tell me to. I just haven't known who to see, etc.....anyhow, thanks bunches

Methadone is not for crystal meth. If your on meth, drop everything and get treatment immediately. It causes permanent brain damage, seriously. Don't worry about job, family or other peoples perception. Just drop everything and get help. You're worth it !!!
