Future Food Stamp Guy

Well, Exide is laying off 557 people starting May 1st. These are good paying jobs, most in the 40 to 60k range. I made over 60k the last two years. Seems that most of our production will be moved to the Salina, KS plant. After working our butts off the last few years this is the thanks we get. Although I would have to say that some of the people there didn't really care about making the numbers or the quality of the product they produced, management should have weeded those out. With the high scrap and low productivity at the plant it's really no surprise. I would have liked to keep my job though. I guess food stamps and free school lunches are I my future. Maybe the almighty Obama will come and save me.

Sorry to here that. I was actually shocked today when I heard exide was laying off 2 shifts and I came online to see if it was just some dumbass playing an april fools joke.

Didnt this same thing happen a few years back?

It might come back up later this year...at least that what Obama supporters are saying...9 months or so and things should start turning around.

I knew it would happen, Ive been watching all the local car related industries and exide isnt the only one doing bad now.... with all this GM and Ford mess...plus the fact that people are afraid to go out and make a major purchase.....its going to get worse as the summer wears on.

Obama is handing money to the wrong people...he is sending money out to people who are not going to be hiring..not increasing production....they are paying off debt with the money...and making sure the fat cats are taken care of.

Sorry for the obama rant.... you and all other exide employees will be in our prayers.

it seems to co.that the better worker you are the more you show up and give that 110 percent you are always the first to go dont no how they figure dont think of more production these people put out and they always seem to do the opposite,i cant believe that some people they let go were there for yrs and yrs worked 6 and 7 days a week for this co,and out you are'' didnt mean anything///this is ashamed but i no several co,that has done this and when they do this the co,suffers because the production seem to come to a hault because of there choose of thought look at sewing factorys and obama wasnt there for the cause of this;;this mess we are in was dropped to him so we can blame it on him''when it was already in the progress of happening to all of us''may god have mercy on all of us to pull us out of this and companys will rethink whats best for the companys not whats cheaper and loss all the way around it kind of for instance take a truck thats drove for 10 yrs no problems maybe a little slower or something but have never had a record and they will let him go and keep someone that may work 4 days for some reason think we will keep them dont understand ;;;;;

My husband is management in a manufacturer plant and it is Obama's problem and the Democrats' fault that have been running this country for 2 years(into the ground)...They want us to be dependent upon the government...they're all socialists...where have you been...And don't expect any change for the better in the next 9 months...don't you know the Bible and Revelations...get ready because we are here! My husband says that none of us will own a home in 5 years...we'll be living in government housing but by God we'll all be equal and living at the same socioeconomic level...yahoo, I know I'm happy!

Oh, I was just repeating what I had heard on the news from some Obama mouthpiece, that the economy would be turning around in about 9 months.

I would say exide is finished. This single shift deal will probabably go on for a while and then they will just close the plant.

Id say the economy has not completely tanked yet and there will be more layoffs and closings in our area.

Not that I know of. I haven't heard that. Maybe someone else on this forum would have a better answer to your question.

No just a layoff. I think they will be okay if Obama gets the economy going again soon.

That's how it all starts. A layoff here a layoff there and before you know it news that the business is closing. I hope the economy starts recovering sooner than later.

this is the worse example of free enterprise I have ever seen. The intimidation and threats they use break ever rule there is. The people are scared to death. One minute they are told they loose the largest account, then a supervisor tells them they have signed new contract and will be announced next week, then next week comes, no announcement, crying woman calls in to a supposed employee line with no one to know and guess who's voice is on 800 number, Bristol's HR Director.

GOODBYE - Good Riddance!

Is Exide still going to layoff next week (January 31)? I hope something has changed and the jobs are kept here in Bristol.
