What we need are govenment run chain stores who do not prey on consumers to please the shareholders. This idea of parasitic existence by the rich investors at the expense of the general public's benefit should be declared illegal and banned.

CoW, I am surprised at your stance on this issue.

It is a free market driven by consumer demand and if I were an investor I also would want a decent return. Obviously the small store (Mom & Pop) concept is no longer wanted nor as successful as many thought,(in this country) so they are pulling up stakes.

The Fresh & Easy concept will never be fully embraced by the public that grew up and knew only how to patronize mega stores and not the relatively small neighborhood fresh market store idea.

I am no longer an apartment dweller nor do I live in a big city that has stores like Fresh & Easy available just about around every corner.
As the saying goes: If you never had it you will not miss it ... and obviously not patronize it. Too bad!

Ok, ok, maybe I need a change of heart just this once. We do have other stores that sell the same items for less so not a big loss and I definitely will not miss it. Have a nice day, young lady!

So what you want is a communist form of government in this country. Tell you what, drop in to a communist country, go to the local market and see how government owned food markets are. Then come back and *itch about how bad we have it here.

If that's your definition of communism, then we already are with gov running the health and social security programs and managing oil reserves. How about the prison system, should be privatize it?
