Ok so now the mayor wants to set the record straight. He's ok if a new grocery comes to town but he wants full time jobs for tax breaks. Are you kidding me? Thanks to Obama care the day of full time jos is slipping away! Those of us who are small business owners have to beware that fulltime work comes with expense of benefits that a small town small business can't afford. So Mr. Mayor you are faced with this, take the jobs you can get or don't but using full time jobs as leverage will get you no where. Even the big guys Walmart try everything to avoid full time status! My mom has had to fight for benefits partially because she's a woman!

To me, the mayor just "tells you what you want to hear"

For example: The slumlord comment he made I think on channel 18 news.(that's when I quit listening to him)
Now, this wishy washy statement about "kroger"

I believe he has his own agenda with his "council of idiots" and they "censor" their true motives behind a curtain of lies. And they all only out to benefit themselves, not the citizens of this town.

"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!! I AM THE Great and Powerful MCBarnes!!!"

The "Kroger" store is not a Kroger store like in Lebannon. It is going to be a box type store called Rural Foods, or something like that. Sounds like something similar to Aldi's. I don't think that the anyone is against them coming to town, but why should they get a property tax abatement when they are providing less than 10 jobs that will pay minimum wage or slightly above? We cannot improve our schools and city if we give tax abatements to these types of employers. Since they pay low wages and have no benefits, the people working there will likely still require state assistance which means they won't be paying taxes either. This is no better than Wal-mart. We need to give tax breaks to companies that will pay a wages that gets people off state assistance.

But the city will pay 1.1 million dollars to bring Ivy Tech here... How many jobs will that create? I guess this must be what you are referring to when you say improve the city? And just how does this improve our city? Yes I said pay 1.1 million not give a tax break for a few years. I guess the city must have more than enough money to make improvements if it can waste 1.1 million. And your worried about a few years of tax abatement's.

Have you checked Walmarts jobs lately? Very few full time jobs! They got tax abatements I'm sure. Aldis most likely got tax abatements and they have maybe 5 employees. When did we conveniently change the rules?

How many part time employees does Mayor Ransom have at Kramers? How many part time employees does Eric Woods have at IGA?

Money was spent on classrooms at the Frankfort library to hold IVY Tech classes. How many were actually held? How was it promoted?

The Chamber's Executive Director was on WILO saying that you have to pay to get IVY Tech to come to your community. That there is a list of communities that want IVY Tech.

The new IVY Tech Frankfort Director acknowledged on WILO that Frankfort will be used for basic classes - core classes required for any degree. Once those classes completed then off to Lafayette.

But, the Chamber and IVY Tech will not disclose the breakdown in students needing the core classes versus the degree specific classes.

The math does not add up.

Well, what about having a negotiation between the company and the admin before we veto the idea?

Why not put a community group of normal Joe's and Josephine's to set in on these meetings?

Does anyone know what happened to all the kids that McBarnes promised he would get involved with Govt activity? This grocery store issue would be great for Ms.Graham's class to be a part of.

Since when has Ivy Tech ever been called 'fancy'?

And shouldn't city council members who are in someway affiliated with a grocery business in town do the right thing and recuse themselves from the discussion and voting? Smells like conflict of interest to me.

Hey there "Punjabby" The word "Fancy" wasn't MEANT to be taken literally! Everyone over there who's ANYONE (or thinks they are), Thinks this IVY Tech Idea is the BEST thing since SLICED BREAD! And YES you are RIGHT its a BIG 'OL conflict of Interest for the City Councilman AND the COUNTYCOUNCILMAN (FATHER AND SON) who OWN the Grocery store over there in Question. To RECUSE themselves and let the PEOPLE have thier say! Rather than get a LAWYER and FIGHT it. BUT, you people need to do more than post in HERE! Ya need to get your voices heard in your city council meetings. Tell the STORE OWNERS ta BACK THE HECK OFF!
