Should we video record Twp Board Meetings?

Would I could find a newspaper that would exhibit the same desire to expose the underhandedness of things done on Sugar Island. Twp. is run by the good old boys network and ignores standards of expectations and gets away with it because not enough people care to find out what is going on and/or try to do anything about it. The Evening News does not want to do the investigative reporting needed.
Keep on keeping on. I have fought the FOIA battles for years on S.I. we finally managed to get some documents released but had to pay up to $1.00/pp though now it is back to .10/pp. So strange to have to pay to get check registers and copy of clerks monthly statements. What we need is to find a lawyer who is willing to stand tall and help take stands against the corruption that exists rampantly at the local level. However, they are dependent upon the local population for business so are reluctant to step forward.

It would be a GREAT idea, informing our community makes for GREAT government.
Why not like the young people of our community do the video and have it on the Township Web Site, perhaps a news letter.
(Another program that our youth may enjoy)

I think it would be a GREAT idea to video tape board meetings. It would show everyone in our town of Kincheloe what our board is and is not doing for it's people. It would also put an end to all the he said she said comments. It would make our board an honest board and make them do the job they were voted into office for in the first place.
I don't know why anyone isn't video taping the meeting anyways. Is there a law stopping someone from tapeing township meetings? Let me know...

No, there is no law stoping you. There is a law letting you tape the meetings. They can not stop you.

Due to having no trust in all our board members,
I agree with the taping for all to see.
Maybe then others will understand how important it is to choose your vote wisely for the next board members to serve our township, instead of the township serving the board.

Yes, the board meetings should be taped and posted for all to see. This way the truth and all the truth will be in black and white for all to see and hear.
I really do not understand how some can say that they do not trust board members when they NEVER attend meetings.
My suggestion would be if you want Kinross to go somewhere do something, be pro-active, get involved, volunteer let your voice be heard. Stop pointing fingers! Lets work togther and acomplish something!
By the way Kincheloe is not a town it is KINROSS Charter Township. Kincheloe is ZIP CODE and only a zip code.

You’re very wrong Sheila! I believe your opinion also reflects the Clerks opinion and is a further reason why he must be replaced. Kincheloe is a COMMUNITY not just a zip code.

People never attend meetings for various reasons:
1. They have jobs and families to attend to
2. They are tired of business as usual, nothing getting done
3. They don't get to speak because their thoughts don't correspond with the "powers that be"

People don't attend meetings of the legislature on a regular basis, people don't attend county commission meetings on a regular basis.

Kincheloe may be just a zip code to you and many others, but there are those of us who tire of being the unwanted step child because of people with views such as yours.

But remember, its that zip code that help's pay your salary and benefits!

Maybe its time to ceceed from the township and go our own way!

We might get something done in this little community then!

Let them know how "THIER" township Deputy Clerk feels about them and thier community.

Without 49788, Kinross would hardly be more than it was before the Air Force decided to locate here, with little impact and not much to offer.

You should not say NEVER, I attented many board meetings. I stopped attending them when I understood my voice was not being heard by the board. Or the board states one thing, and goes about it another. So I have no interest in board meeting until we have a new board.

AMEN, I concur - actually I stopped going when Jason threw a hissie fit with that gavel of his! Adjourned the meeting and stormed out!

I may have attended ocassionally after that, but not too often.

OH and while I am at it a big AMEN to Mrs. Palma's remarks also!

I went to a couple of other meetings and it was a joke. I couldn't believe how the board conducted itself. Nothing gets done in this community because the board and its township employs don't care about this community. Sheila Gaines showed her true colors. I wish I could be at tonights township meeting, but I'll be out of town.

I think it would be a great idea. I have 3 jobs and still volunteer in the community so I dont have the time to attend the meetings. If I could go on line and watch the meetings it would be great. After all the things I hear about the board meetings, I'm not sure if I had no jobs I would want to attend.

The meetings are available on kinross.biz in six parts. These are archived streams. Live streaming is not available right now but I am looking into it.
