I can agree with what you say about your parents not wanting you to date outside your race but, NO 1's 100% pure any more. Look at me, I'm not 100% black I know there is some Native American in me some where and maybe even some white.

I have dated, would date and enjoy dating black women. Although I'm a southern man now, I haven't been one very long -- I'm a white man from Massachusetts. It's BS to say a woman is a woman and it doesn't matter, blah, blah, blah. Our ethnicity endows us with certain characteristics that make us all different -- although we are all members of one race -- the human one. The hard part is not for the two people together -- it's for the people surrounding them -- old attitudes die real hard. For those who think love conquers all, you're naive! Ive never understood why some people would choose to date or not based solely on race. of all the factors that matter when picking someone, skin color seems to be the least important...

That's because you live in the south. If you go to larger cities not located in the south you will see white men with black women. You will also see a large cultural mix in New York, Philli, LA, Hartford, San Diego, Chicago, Miami. The south has a history of sour race relations and people from the south usually don't travel much and live sectioned off by race.
In Europe Germany,London,France, Amsterdam, mixed race children and couples are everywhere. Alot of military/professionals that travel witness this. In Europe the people look at you as a person and judge you be your accomplishments. Color rarely comes up, Europeans are comfortable with brown people as they say.( Blacks, Hispanics)!

True, I just came off active duty and in the Army I've actually seen more black gals with white guys than black guys with white girls. I think it's a trend. From my experience, (and I've witnessed alot and overheard too many locker room conversations) black guys are not really prone to value marriage as much as whites and Hispanics, they wind up in prison seven times more often and are always looking for a new conquest in the sexual arena. Black girls I've dated (I am white) tend to be very religious, decent mothers and overall very sweet. As with anybody, there are always exceptions regardless of race and sex, but for a black woman in America to only seek out black guys and expect to find Mr. Right, the odds are very long.

That was kind of presumtuous of you, Papa Cat, but whatev. Your experiences are vastly different from mine. I've observed the complete opposite about black men. But honestly, I don't think things are attributed to skin colour anyway, but rather how you are brought up. So, whatevs. I date a black man (I'm white) and I love him very, very much. <3

Our past will always affect our future. I am speaking from the perispective of an immigrant from a predominantly black culture.I am neither attracted to white or black men. It depends on the individual. I no longer have access to men of my class and culture. Immigration makes it imposible. Personally, I find white American men to be very disrespectful. They do not know how to appoach decent, attractive black women. They still have the "massa mentality." They think that they have access to you and your body even if you are not attracted to them. I am a lover of men not boys, I find myself telling them. Fro black men, it is hard to find one educated and with the same interest that I have: literature, adventure, culture etc. They exist but usually I see them with white or Asian women. I personally think Americans lack a strong sense of atonomy and equate white with success.In the US today, 75% of the black household is headed by women. It takes a man and a woman to make it and model good living for the children. My life is always about quality not quantity. My teachers taught me this a long time ago. I notice that White Amerians love to give charity to blacks. I grew up not loving to take charity but bettering myself and having my own life.I love equality not to be given things. The race relations you have is not good.

I've always been attracted to white men, only because I've never had much contact with men of my own race. As I've grown older, I've dated men of all races and I must say that people are people..no matter the color of their skin. Some people think that dating a person of another race (white) will make them socially acceptable, this is not the case. Acceptance has to come from within.

As a white man, I've dated women from about every culture. I find it odd when I hear a black woman say "you know white men aren't so bad and what I heard about them wasn't true." Obviously if you're hearing negative crap about another race from a bunch of racists, it's probably not true. At first, I was reluctant to date a black woman because I wasn't raised around them, but I thought they were cute. But when I made love to them I really liked the contrast, and alot of the black women I dated did too.
Anyway, I hope we reach a time when people are truly judged "not by the nature of their skin but by the conviction of their character."
