The teacher / bus driver should be fired immediately and sued. They violated this kids rights.

There is nothing wrong with a little gas. It is a bodliy function that some people cannot control. And even if you can, so what?

What it sounds like to ME is that this child is a rude little boy, and this is not the very first time he's been asked to QUIT DOING whatever it is he is doing at the time. His parents are not Supporting the school system with their weak comments. He is OBviously a behavior problem, and does not obey authority.

If he is tooting in the home and the dad is Laughing at him for DOing it, instead of REMINDing him that this is not DONE in Polite Society and OUT in PUBLIC....ahhhh...the Challenges that the teachers of today have to work with.

Reading between the lines, it sounds to me like this child has been offensive in many other ways....I'm sure the bus driver had HAD it with this little rude boy. Has anyone reminded him that riding the bus is a PRIVILEDGE, and not a right....

If he is doing this to "get attention," as surely is the case, then perhaps mom and dad need to take away the video games and spend a little more time with this boy, TRAINing him instead of just laughing at him....

having gas is not voluntary
gas is generated by what you EAT
trying to hold it in can cause a great amount of pain, you idiots want someone to hold it and cause themselves pain, maybe even rupture something and die?
yes, I said DIE. If you're holding a lot of gas back and someone bigger punches you, POP goes the balloon.
fucking morons

As a teacher, I have told a child that he would be punished for this....The problem was not the passing gas. The problem was the distraction that was caused clearly on purpose... I knew the child, his attitude and goal. I have to wonder if the distraction caused from all this could possibly have caused a safety hazard, as in a wreck. I believe that I read that this was not the child's first time.... Maybe it was a game to him.... Since most of us were not there, then I guess that we can't know.

Hmm. His parents should have him checked out by a doctor. It could be intentional, but only the little boy and God know the truth unless he is seen by the doctor. I guarantee a Colonoscopy will slow the gas down, if it isn't a medical problem. As for you grown people, pointing fingers, Get a clue. There is more room on the outside than the inside, and if it wasn't a necessary function, then God could have blessed us with a gas free, and a pain free life.
Gas is now a medical problem? And all this time I thought it was normal.

what exactly was he distracting everyone from on the bus? Was the teacher there with a lesson? If farting causes the bus driver to crash, then the driver wasn't qualified to begin with. Maybe it was a game to him. AFter all he was what 12 yrs old? Big phukin deal. There are so many more serious things that students are getting away with and they punish a kid for stinky farts?

This kid being punished for this crap is crazy; first, this bus driver needs to be talked to about this, and I'd like to hear the "excuse" on this one. Second, maybe the kid can't help his "gas;" belching and passing gas, or "farting," is A NATURAL BODY FUNCTION! In fact, the human body "breaks wind" up to 15 times a day, even when asleep! I don't think this kid needs a detention for this stupid garbage, and I bet the school HASN'T HEARD THE END OF THIS. The school owes this kid's family an apology, not to mention the bus driver, too.

MOST of the folks who "side with the tooter" have never taught in the public schools. This teacher states the WHOLE POINT of the "problem." This kid is a BEHAVIOR PROBLEM! It was NOT his "first offense," and no one understands better than the folks who have to put up with him 8 hours a day. He needs to be reminded to QUIT being ANNOYING, have some manners, and learn to stifle....
It's all a part of teaching them to get along in the Real World.

Why are they punishing him for this "offense" if he's such a problem? Why not punish him for something he has some control over?

Pfft, I know that you can hold gas for a while before you have to let it go so there may be some timing involved (it's not like he can inhale through his butt). Butt, why did they pick this instead of something he might have actually premeditated, like throwing something or pulling hair?

Seems childish to punish a child for something everyone in the room has done at least once that week...

What the heck? Really? So he was being a boy! It was probably that nasty school food he ate for lunch. My brother use to come in my room, fart and hold the door so I couldn't get out! He grew up to make 6 figures a year. Don't think farting in public is gonna make you turn out bad! I mean seriously? Everybody does it! Yea whose is without fart cast the first stone!

But of Course farting is systemic to crime. All criminals farted on the school bus and in the class room. In this case the bus driver probably felt deprived of not being able to share in the fragrance and drive the bus. Joseph Isaacs covers this in his new tell all "The Art of Flatulence" a criminal experience.
