Novi Guy, Why don't you share with us, what you do for a living? My guess would be mixing concrete as thats about the only job that doesn't require a 4th grade education. How can you comment on anyone's intelligence, when you can't even complete a proper sentence? I actually know Chris and have known him for a number of years. He is one of the best attorneys here in Michigan. How can you be so dense to think that a Judge isn't aware of your background history when he sentences you? That's essentially what he basis's his decision on. As far as calling someone a drug addict or an alcoholic, what would you call them? I deal with people who have addiction everyday. The only thing upsetting to me about Judge Mackenzie calling a defendant an alcoholic and a liar, is that he didn't need to repeat himself. I also work within the confides of the legal system. I know Judges all around Michigan and I have to say that Judge Mackenzie is one the best there is. You turn a blind eye to everything which is going on, and you try and focus on everything that is negative. The object is not for Judge Mackenzie or any other judge for that matter, to become your friend. It is to simply stop you from committing crimes. Would you want to commit a crime and be in front of Judge Mackenzie? In my attempt to read your post, I would deduce that you would not. There you go, the legal system works. You don't want to be in front of him and he doesn't want you in front of him.

LOL. Love these attorneys who weigh in with their praise of Judge Brian and his methods. Probably the same guys who are hauling in his dry cleaning instead of looking out for their client's welfare.

Evad - Try creating, if you're able, a better testimonial in terms of your attorney pal before condemning someone elses' intelligence. Sounds like yours is out of sync as well. Confines as opposed to Confides, perhaps????

election

I checked the election ballot for 2008 and saw that MacKenzie is running for re-election. It did not look like anyone is running against him. Perhaps we should start a write-in campaign for some. Perhaps Jack Kevorkian, the suicide doctor. I've heard that one of Kevorkian's compaign issues is prison reform.

Mr. Erection, The Mayor thinks Jack is too old. David koresh would be a good one, but he is too dead. So let us write in Chris, he will do just fine. He will serve up justice on tasty 12 inch buns. Better than getting justice served up your buns!

Mel wrote: I like Judge McKenzie -- maybe if more judges were like him people would THINK before they make more "mistakes" ... sorry but I'm all for strictness in court. Gee, Mel, I am all for strictness as well if it applies to the crime. However, I went before "his highness" mackenzie after I took the rap for my wife's marijuana use.(I had been clean for years.) However, one day we had the tri-county drug enforcement team bust into my home, point a gun at my head with a foot in my back, throw my handicapped wife to the ground while she was crying "I'm trying to get down, I'm trying!" This was all based on 1/8th ounce of stems and seeds they found in our garbage. Since my wife used it as a medicinal purpose and I didn't want her to go through the B.S. that comes with these moralistic arrests I said "anything found is mine." After tearing up the house and autos I heard the female officer shout with joy "I found it! I found it!" yeah, all 1/10 of an ounce. So I'm thinking to reasonably expect a minor possesion charge. When I was brought before Brian for "manufacture with intent to deliver" since they found a bag over here and a joint over there and a couple of seeds I knew they needed to get something out of the thousands of dollars of overtime for the garbage pickers. So they trump up the charge and MacKenzie talks almost as fast as the micro machines dude in the old commercials. I made the mistake of saying; "excuse me?" and immediatly he roared how disrespectful I was to not listen to him and asked if I wanted contempt added to the year of probation, jams, AA meetings(great for ex pot smokers) and drug counseling. So strict? Sure. But for someone who stupidly took the rap for his spouse and then politely inquired as to what the speedmouth had said I felt that he was totally out of place to assume he could disregard respect of another human based on his judgedly intuition So not only was I fortunate enough to get him to judge my morality but, lucky me, I found out he is the only judge who wants to take my credit card debt to trial. So now he can judge my finances as well. All I can say is thank heaven there is no more debtors prison for I am sure he could fill it with glee! D

I heard that probation department at that court is a joke as well. All those officers do is come out and wait to be told by defendants what they should already know.

That would be if they could afford a fair trial!! I will stand before him next week because I do not have the money to continue my fight ! I will lose my license, job and then my house. Just thought you should Know since you work in the legal system that you are GUILTY unless you have the money to prove your case. Not everyone is made from the same cookie cutter,They are just sentenced as if they were. I will not call you dense , Ill just pray you never have the learn to how the wheels of justice really turn the way I have.

Novi Guy, Why don't you spend an entire day at the 48th District Court; Judges don't reason, they do not ask any questions, they do not care they just put you in jail feeling the community is safer with no regard wehtehr the defendant will commit another crime; Is that what you want? No comments, just go to jail; You wathc him rant about a guy who blows a .29 and doesn't think they're an acoholic, what would you do, or what do you do when someone agrues with you and they just do not get it; I would bet the farm that you have no clue the facts of anything you are talking about; Not a clue. Please don't bother us unless you educate yourself and learn both sides of each situation. Bet you do not know what a "right" is? Life is not the same as TV

Already done that - and paid for every nickel of it myself. Spend an entire day at 48th dist. court?- Maybe you have time to waste like that. I'm sure Subway can find a replacement for you. I owned a business with 50 employees for 18 years, and am now in sales and make a very comfortable living. I guarantee you I've paid triple what you've paid in taxes over the last 25 years. I'm fully aware of what a "right" is. As far as addressing anything else you've said specifically, I've read it 3 times now and am unable to decipher your nonsensical rambling. If your misspelled, fragmented, semicolon infested tirade is any indication of your level of education, you aren't equipped to address either me OR the issue. You are about a biscuit short of being illiterate. I'm sorry for you. I blame your teachers and the educational system. If you can't put your thoughts into sentences, stay the hell off of a posting board. It's much better to remain silent and be thought an idiot, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

DUI - if you drink o do not drive and you will not face the judge, any judge. I spend time in his courtroom - 3 hrs. I would like now why so many people complained about him, how harsh punishment they got. I do not agree with people complaining about the panishment for DUI, drugs etc. He is correct. You drink, use drugs - you will take the responsibility and face any judge in Court. You deserve the punishment. GOOD JOB JUDGE MAC KENZIE. Keep good work. IF YOU DRINK< IF YOU DRUGS, do not drive and seat at home. Mark

My oldest brother was a parapalegic from a "boozing and cruizing" in the 70's. He was 17. He died 2 years ago. Out of the 3 in the car my brother was the only one hurt, the driver and other passenger were not. The ironic part is my other brother is an alcholic He was put in front of MacKenzie on one of his numerous DUI's. He went through all the hoops this judge has put everyone else through. Sad to say it didn't help. Please don't get me wrong, my other brother went through hell for the rest of his life. I am only saying that for some, there is a reason NOT AN EXCUSE for their drinking. For mine it was his lack of self esteem. This Judge is not going to help this type of person by belittling them. It just gives them another reason to drink. I can understand some of his "reasons" for being the way he is towards DUI's. He hears the same stories over and over again....but Mr Mackenzie remember to be a human being first instead of a jackass!

What's the beef? The idiot judge pegged this one right....not that it took much thought for the bearded under the robe free baller. Think about it, critics. His district isn't exactly overrun with gun totting hoodlums. I even doubt whether most of the cops that surround that stupid court have ever drawn their guns except to screw around on that overpriced gun range built in Novi where the panty waists can act tough. Mackenzie knows that DUI's are the major game given the relative calm climate and has centered his crusade on that. No mystery to his remarks.
