Just last week I was jogging down Sexton Peavy area and a stray dog that looked like a black german shepard appeared out of the woods and stood in the middle of the road. This dog looked like it had been out for a while it was very skiddish and a little skinny. I will have to run with mace now to protect myself.

I used to live on Crofoot Road and whould also run along its length for the Detroit Marathon. I visited the scene yesterday. How tragic. There isn't a neighbor at least a quarter of a mile from the dog owner's house, yet that stupid sign is posted on her fence. It makes me wonder what kind of kook she is. Also, about a half mile away is a family with small children. The dogs' owner should be charged with two counts of criminal negligent homicide.

I hope the DA does charge the dog's owner with negligent homicide! I also hope that the victim's relatives will sue the owner for all she/he has. What a horible way to die. My heart goes out to the victim's families.

I WAS SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT CHERI. SHE WAS A GREAT WOMAN, MOTHER, AND WIFE. IT HAD BEEN SOME YEARS THAT I HAD LAST SEEN HER AND HER HUSBAND, BUT IT WAS HARD NEWS TO HEAR. MY HEART FELT FEELINGS GO OUT TO HER FAMILY. AS FAR AS THE OWNER, I HOPE SHE HAS THE BOOK THROWN AT HER. SHE SOUNDS LIKE A FREEK AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIND LONG AGO. HAVING DOGS PENNED UP LIKE THAT WITH NO HUMAN CONTACT IS ASKING FOR TROUBLE. NOW SHE HAS IT! JIM, GO FOR ALL YOU CAN GET. I KNOW IT WONT BRING CHERI BACK, BUT IT WILL REALLY KICK THIS B%^((^ IN THE A@#. THINKING OF YOU ALL, NANCY B.(GAILS SIS)

My heart goes out to the families of who lost their lives. However, you all need to really think about what you are saying. Name calling (freak and so on) when you do not even know the person is not human. I know that the owner would have never let them out to just run; she was not even in town. Yes, she is in part responsible for what has happened. However, she has never and would never harm or train anything to harm anyone. She loves animals and always has. The teenager should have never been the one left in charge to take care of them, because we all know the teenager are just not responsible enough. These dogs were loved and not just locked up like beast. The kennel was to keep them in their area, not to be out running. Now I have had big dogs all my life and my last two were rotties (my babies) they were kept in a kennel too, because my property was not fenced. When I was out, they were out and very well behaved. I did not train my dogs ever to be mean. Dogs get mean by their trainer, rabies, and or starvation. If Mrs. Harper was over there giving treats to the horses then she was aware of the dogs that were there also. People you need to think, most of you at one time or another have owned a pet and anyone or breed can hurt you. I was an 11yr old girl doing a paper route when I was attacked by a poodle-mix that sunk his teeth right into my calf. ANY AND I MEAN ANY ANIMAL CAN HURT YOU, THEY COME FROM THE WILD LIFE BEFORE THEY WERE CONSIDERED PETS, REMEMBER THAT. So if the teenager or the owner was not feeding them properly then their wild instinct come back into pay. Also before you go judging anyone, put yourself in her place, would you think that you were a horrid person for this horrific accident.“Do not judge unless you want to be judged.”
God be with all. |

FIRST OF ALL, LET ME SAY THAT MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILES FOR YOUR LOSS... HOW TRAGIC AND I AM SO VERY SORRY FOR THAT. HOWEVER, THE COMMENTS MADE TOWARDS THE OWNER, I DO NOT AGREE WITH. DIANE HAS LOVED ANIMALS ALL HER LIFE AND TAKES VERY GOOD CARE OF HER ANIMALS, NEEDLESS TO SAY WAS NOT EVEN HOME WHEN THIS OCCURED. MY HEART GOES OUT TO HER AS WELL AS THE FAMILIES, SHE HAS TO LIVE WITH THE FACT OF KNOWING HER DOGS TOOK 2 LIVES??? GIVE ME A BREAK PEOPLE. STOP JUDGING PEOPLE THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW!!! IM NOT STATING SHE IS TOTALLY INNOCENT, BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT THESE ANIMALS WERE NOT BEAST!! AND NEVER EVER TREATED OR TRAINED TO BE SUCH! IN MY OPINION,THESE DOGS WERE NOT FED WHILE THE OWNER WAS AWAY BY THE TEENAGER HIRED TO DO SO, OR HAD MANGE,DISTEMPER ECT... SOMETHING HAD TO HAVE GONE WRONG TO MAKE THESE DOGS TURN THIS WAY AND MAULE THESE 2 INNOCENT PEOPLE,THESE WERE GOOD,WELL BEHAVED,AND VERY MUCH LOVED DOGS. SO ONCE AGAIN, STOP JUDGING!!!

i know the person the owns the dogs. i know they where well behaved and loving animals and i also know that those dogs where fed and loved when she wasnt there. i was the teenager that was in charge and i give you my word that those dogs where taken care of!!! if you could only talk to the dogs owners and hear her story it would break your heart. if you want to judge me thats fine but dont judge her because of what happened. she is such a loving person,so kind and generous, she is the greatest person i ever met. i think if her as another mother. if you only knew. she loved her dogs she was devistated when her dogs got put down. it is not fair to walk in that yard and in the pasture without those dogs at your side. you have no idea what happened. so until you do stop talking about it and writing comments that arent even true. and just for the record those dogs where AMERICAN BULLDOGS!!!!!!!!!!

Regarding:
"she loved her dogs she was devistated when her dogs got put down. it is not fair to walk in that yard and in the pasture without those dogs at your side." ---------- If you want to make statements about what is "not fair", you need to consider the last moments of these victims lives, and the effect on their families. IMHO: What would be "fair" is for the owner of any kept; domestic animal that kills or maims a human to be charged with the crime as if they were responsible. If you allow an animal to kill a human, you are responsible for that humans death. If people clearly understood these consequences, they would be very careful about keeping dangerous animals. We live in an increasingly crowded society. When making choices, we must consider the effects on others. We ARE responsible for ALL our actions. |

Re: John-In-Mich,
I agree with you whole heartly to the fact that "the last moments if these victims lives" ABSOLUTLY!! I agree.. these 2 innocent indviuals had to be terrified, not to mention what there families are going through, I feel for them totally, about people should not have dangerous animals, I agree with that too, but where I guess you can say "my confusion" with all of this is, the dog owner was the best dog owner any dog, or anmial could ever have, she LOVED these animals as if they were her children and took excellent care for them, and these dogs were NEVER EVER mean or as some people want to say "visious" OH MY!! That is so absolutley un-true!! These dogs were big babies, and loved everyone. So the question is, what went wrong???? Something oviously did go wrong. With the owner being away on vacation and a 16 year old left in charge to feed and water them, did he maybe not do it and the dogs were starving???? That's the only thing that I can think of that went wrong, I dont know but something definitly went wrong with them animals, Parval, distemper,????? But my point in all of this is that these dogs were not visious in anyway what so ever, and She took such wonderful care of these dogs, knowing her the way I have all my life she never ever would have even owned a visious animal. I guess it is going to be up to the court system to figure it all out. My heart does indeed go out to the families of losing there loved ones, but my heart also goes out to my dear cousin who also lost 10 of her children. |
|
Thank You!! You Hit the nail on the head with this.. People need to stop Judging her, of course she is going to be responsible she is the dog owner, but to make certain comments that have been made about her and those dogs being visious?? That is totally un-true so people please please stop juding her or the way she cared for her animals, I've known her all my life and once again she loved those dogs, like they were her children and never ever would have raised them to be mean... |

Stop Judging? She's committed a crime. We live in America. She will be judged and sentenced fairly.

Don't know the area or the people, but sorry for the loss of all concerned. I've been in the woods a lot (hunting - hiking - and just being there). Dogs always did worry me a bit, not when you got one so much as when you get a couple or three or a small pack of them. Family dogs will do things in a pack they would never do on their own. Farm dogs (and all dogs) can be very territorial - just that farms dogs might think that territory is a lot bigger. Had a problem with 'family pets' getting together in NM and attacking horses and people just outside of Alberquerque. Would suggest carry peeper spray for animals (like 'bear spray') and not mace. Mace is a lot less effective than pepper spray on animals.
